What is Build-A-Pin

I heard about places at WDW where you can make your own pin, but I haven't been able to find much info on it online. How do you do this? How long does it take? Where can you do this? I heard the Pin Shop at Downtown Disney and the Sorcerer's Hat at MGM had them, but I was wondering if they are anywhere.

DW did a couple in DTD. You pick different things to make your pin and then you need to go to someone in the area that has a press to stamp the ends of your pieces to hold them together/

Basically hre is how you build-a-pin. Go to a location that has the tools and machinery to stamp you pins.

Select a basic pin from the build-a-pin bases. Let's say you choose the castle. There will be between 1 and three indentions where you can put the corresponding number of character pins.
So let's say the castle has 2 indentions. You would choose two much smaller character pins, (not really stand alone pins) Maybe Tinkerbell and Mickey take the three pieces to the people behind the counter and they will "stamp" Tink and Mick into the place provided for them. When you are finished you will have one pin that you can wear or trade with two characters on it.

We did these on our last day at the world in June, at the pin trading shop in Downtown Disney. They told me there that it is the only place to do build-a-pins. Some of the pins that you then accessorize have space for engraving (done for free). My DD5 and DD9 both had their name and the year engraved on their pins, which made for a very special souvenir from our trip! We highly recommend it!
