I keep meaning to ask this. The direction signs are a different color (orange, I believeindicating it's not Disney, right? Is it on Disney property? Is it a golf course or a time share? What the heck?

Fairfield / marriott = timeshare. We rode by in august and its pretty nice. It looks to be large. And lots of construction going on. They got a spot looks like right on disney property? Or a loop hole?

Mky princess:

Disney was never able to buy the property in the first place. When Fairfield wanted to develop it, Disney would not allow them to build an access road to the WDW owned roads. Lawsuits ensued, blah blah blah.

The timeshare is owned by Fairfield; the land is not owned by Disney. Guests do not enjoy any of the perks offered to Disney property guests.

Tons of information on this - google "Bonnet Creek"

Bonnet Creek is also the name of WDW's Golf Club that is located a little East of Fort Wilderness. The two gof courses there are Ospry Ridge and Eagle Pines, two excellent courses according to my golfers. And it is very much WDW owned. :flower:

The Bonnet Creek development is an independent land development project. It will eventually contain the Fairfield Orlando at Bonnet Creek Resort (timeshare), 4 hotels and a golf course. So far, only the Fairfield timeshare is open. Fairfield does not own the entire BC development, only their portion. The sidewalks and streetlamps are in place for most of the development.

Besides Fairfield's website above, you can see pictures at this rental website. And as you can see in this aerial view picture, this privately owned property is surrounded on most sides by Disney-owned land with one side bordered by I-4 (no highway access there). So Disney had to permit access via Buena Vista Drive (no lawsuit, no one can legally prevent access to land-locked property). It feels like it's on Disney property because you pass under the purple Walt Disney World signs when going there. But it's not Disney-owned.

Much of the BC development is set aside for preservation so it's heavily wooded. The Fairfield resort is very close to Caribbean Beach Resort and the back of Epcot's World Showcase, though you cannot walk to them. From the resort, you can see the top of the Epcot ball (see some of the photos on the rental website above) and the higher fireworks. It's a beautiful resort!!! :) Take a drive through and see, next time you're in the area.

Just got back from Bonnet Creek. It's beautiful, the staff was great and the rooms were spacious. We also had booked a value room to get the free dining promo and never once used any of the Disney perks (except the free food and free parking). So if extra magic hours and package delivery aren't important to you, this is a great place to stay (unless of course Disney has another free dining promo).

How did you rent at Bonnet Creek. I'm struggling to find anyone owners for rental at the moment. Can you rent direct through fairfield resorts?

thanks
Helen
