Help me out folks... my child is in a play at school and the note that informs me of the costume that I need to get reads like this:

Narrators/story tellers: Each a different brightly colored tunic

Now, there are 6 story tellers. How am I supposed to know what color tunics they are buying... and what the heck is a tunic, anyway???

I'm sorry. I just need things spelled out for me a little more! :headache:

A long shirt that covers your behind almost.
Often with little slits on the sides

Or a greek tunic-that is similar to picture with much more fabric & folds.
What is the time period of the play?

ahhhh. I see!

THANK YOU!

I have two weeks... thankfully! She also plays a "HEN"... thankfully I understand the costume suggestion for that one. Headband with feathers. I CAN DO THAT! :)

I think a tunic is like a dress with no sleeves and you where a shirt underneath. I

if you are not a sewer, you could probably do this without sewing.

Hopefully I can describe what I am thinking.

Since a tunic doesn't need to have sleeves, you could get a piece of fabric (most is 44 in. wide) , you would need about 2 yards at the most, figure out how wide your tunic would need to be, figure out the right length, cut a slit for the head (or maybe a little hole) and then you're done. There should be enough extra fabric to make a sash, and now you are done.

yep. Think of it as a sort of fabric sandwich board. 2 pieces of fabric and a hole in the middle for a head ;). Leggings underneath and maybe a belt to cinch it, and you've got a medieval storyteller!
