What is a saint?

My Dnephew is going to be in a parade of saints in late October. Every child in his school dresses up as a saint and the bishop is there to watch them parade by him. DN is almost 5 and is in PreK.

So, my sister asks him if he knows what a saint is. He replies, "of course, Mommy. We live in the saint of Pennsylvania, and that's in the United Saints of America."

My sister explained the significance of saints to him.
