What is a pontoon & other boat ???

Hello-

I am planning my Disney honeymoon and think it might be nice for hubby to be and I to take a ride around in a boat. But what exactly is a pontoon boat? Does it have comfortable seats? How fast does it go? If I rent at the marina (not a chartered one) can I bring my own snacks/food on board?

If I am doing this in the Bay Lake/Seven Seas area, how long would I need to rent in order to get the most out of it? (I assume I wouldn't get very far on a 30 minute rental).

Are water mice the only "speedy" type of boats that can be rented on your own?

Just don't know a lot about boats so any input would be great!

The pontoon boats are great and would be a really good choice for a nice romantic trip around the lakes. An hour is a good amount of time.

A pontoon boat has a thing on each side that looks like a big long enclosed tube. A platform is attached to the top and seats are all around the outside. There is a covered area over the drivers seat which is toward the back. There is a lot of open space on the boat for moving around.

There is no problem taking food on board.

We have a pontoon boat and it is so comfortable! The closest thing I can compare it to is a floating patio. The sides are enclosed and there are large bench seats,sort of like couches, all around the sides. You can really relax and stretch out. The rear part of it is usually covered by a canopy.

I think you'd have alot of fun. Either order some food and wine,otr bring along a cooler and snacks.

When I was growing up in Texas, we called pontoon boats "party barges" because they lend themselves so well to parties.

You can't ski behind them; they're more for floating and swimming around.

Actually nowadays they make them with bigger motors so you can pull skis,ours does. But this is not the norm. Certainly they are not as fast as a traditional boat. They are more for leisurely cruising rather than speeding around. Which is what you'd want to do on a Disney honeymoon. Have fun!

everyone is right about the pontoon boat.
I also want to point out that the water mice just look fast they only do what 5 to 15 miles per hour
