Hi, I have read a couple of postings regarding getting a pin and using it to upgrade to better resorts etc. What is this, or am I reading that wrong?

THanks!

PIN codes are special codes that are received by individuals via email from Disney Destinations or snail mail in the form of a postcard. These codes are non-transferrable. They include a 15 digit number rather than a 3 character code. The can not be combined with any other offer. Many times they are specials that are not offered to the general public or they're specials that are sent out ahead of general public offerings. If you receive one and you already have a reservation, you can call Disney (or have your TA call if you used a TA) to find out if it is better for you than your current deal or find out if it's worthwhile for you.

Nobody actually knows how people get on this mysterious PIN code list. Signing up for everything and anything Disney I'm sure helps.

You just have to cross your fingers and hope! We have signed up for nearly everything Disney related and have never received a code. :guilty:

Well, I will just have to hope and come through my mail like everyone else! Lucky ducks to those who've received them! Still, I will go without one too, guess Disney knows this about me!

they do, and that is my biggest problem. I like to plan and book way in advance, and I think the chances of getting one after you've booked ar slim to none!

Not true. I originally booked my December trip using an adults at kid prices PIN. For some strange reason, I got another PIN code a month or two later. The second PIN was for free dining for the same dates. I applied the new PIN to my existing reservation and because of the savings, I added 2 more days to my trip for a tiny increase in cost (I think it was less than $100; yup, they know some of us are like that). The second PIN arrived before the Disney Visa or general public free dining came out so it was great in the sense that I was able to secure my reservation (POFQ sold out of DV free dining VERY quickly if it was ever even offered there). It gave me the exact same rate that I would have gotten with the DV or general codes. I've since gotten one more free dining PIN for the same date range. It was the exact same deal as the public offer as well as the one I had already gotten but I think Disney knows that people like getting those emails.

I booked a trip for the middle of October (my birthday) back in early August. About two weeks ago, I got a postcard for 40% off a resort stay valid October 1-31 to celebrate my birthday. It was my first PIN code offer and I called my TA to see if it would work with my current reservation. I had Pop Century booked with an AP rate of $388 for 5 nights. The 40% PIN code dropped it down to about $350 so we saved a little more. I was hoping that the PIN code would work at Coronado Springs since we were willing to pay a little more for a moderate. Well, it wasn't a little more...it was a LOT more! They wanted over $680 for 5 nights in a room with a King bed:lmao:. Since it is just me and my BFF going, we decided that we are not THAT good of friends and would prefer not to share a bed for 5 nights:rotfl:. Plus, the rate at Pop Century was so much more appealing.
