I think I'm a little behind the times! Please tell me what a Pal-Mickey is and how much do they cost?

Thanks.

Pal Mickey is a interactive toy that once activated will tell you different things about rides in the parks. They rent for $8.00 plus tax a day and you can purchase one for $46.94 plus tax ($50).

We rented one for a day and took it to the Magic Kingdom. Whenever we got near an attraction that had a sensor near it, Mickey would shake and giggle. If you press his tummy or one of his hands within 15 seconds, he will say something about the attraction. While we were in the Haunted Mansion, he started to shake & giggle. So I pressed his tummy and he said something about it being spooky inside (we were near the ballroom scene).

The only disadvantage we saw to it (this was commented on by someone else who reviewed it), was that he was hard to hear over the noise of the crowd. When we turned him in, I made the comment that for kids who will be carrying him in a stroller with them, he would be fine and could be heard, but for adults, they need to have some type of earphone adapter. That way you wouldn't have to keep taking him off your belt to hear what he has to say.

He also plays games with you. He is programmed to play 4 different games. He also tells very corny (for adults) jokes.
Ex: Why did Goofy put the saddle on the stove? He wanted to ride the range.

He was kind of cute to rent for the day (you can rent for more than one day). But since I don't have young kids anymore, I would not buy one.

Here is a description I found from a different webpage:

"This is it -- the ultimate Disney plush! Bring "Pal Mickey" to any Walt Disney World theme park and he'll say over 700 different phrases! Everything from jokes to Disney trivia, interactive games and even attraction wait times, Pal Mickey has definitely got it covered! He'll even talk Disney trivia and play games when you're at home! If there is one piece of Disney theme park merchandise to buy this year, this is definitely it!

- Just a little under one foot tall.
- Batteries included. "

He was originally introduced in the deluxe resorts, but when we went at the end of April, they were in the value resorts too. In fact I was one of the first to rent one at the All-Star Sports. The two people I dealt with when renting and returning did not know how to do it. They had to get the manual out and use that to rent - activate him and then to return him.
If you rent him, make sure you keep your receipt. You will need it to return him.

We had fun with him, in fact while waiting for a ride I got to show him to a couple youngsters. They were talking about Mickey and saw mine. I told them that he talks and tells me about the rides and then pressed his hand so he would tell a joke for them.
They thought it was great.
