What is a Lanyard?

A lanyard is a neck strap that you can hook your room card onto in a pouch or water bottle etc - they are used mostly on the cruise line for carring ID room card etc when you don't have pockets or don't want to place things in your pocket - many people use them at water parks etc as things may come out of your pocket too easliy in the water or when your relaxing

I hope that is helpful

The other main reason they are used is to display the pins that you buy while you are at the parks.

In addition to what others have said, there's also one for pin trading.

Does Disney sell one with the pouches now? I remember looking for them to put the tickets in and couldn't find one. If you keep your room key and ticket in the same pouch will the magnetic strips get messed up?

Your tickets and room key should be fine next to each other. You need to watch them around cell phones and bags with magnetic closures.

I haven't been to disney in a couple years but from what I have seen disney does sell the lanyards with the little plastic "pouch" at the end to put your id etc. in
