What is a Guest?

We had a really good trip our last trip. We had 4 CMs who were so good, I felt the need to send an e-mail to Disney specifically about them. Almost every other CM was efficient and friendly at least. So some of that still exists. All the CMs I have dealt with on the phone have been good as well (I know it is hit or miss).

I will say, though, that service at CRT, 1900 PF and 50s PT, while adequate, have made me not desire to book those again for our next two planned trips. Three meals which, for their price points, should have been "experiences" were just going through the motions. But, I guess, it doesn't matter because the places book up solid anyhow

Sadly 50 Prime Time is no longer what it use to be. I have heard there have been too many complaints from people being "messed with" who didn't get the whole vibe of 50 PT and the reason why they do things like take your phone away, not let you put your elbows on the table, make you answer trivia before dessert etc. Seems like a lot of people get too worked up over the smallest things now. I have been several times and nothing has been quiet like our first experience where a friend got put in the corner for putting his elbows on the table too many times and I had to say 5 presidents with a certain letter in their name before I could order dessert because I didn't clean my plate. My group had such a fun time. The next year we went back they brought my fiance 5 diet cokes because he was drinking them so fast the waiter brought over 5 and said here you go princess this should tied you over. We all laughed hysterically. Now the past 2 times we went nothing like that has happened. We missed it as we knew it was all apart of the experience. After the 3rd one we just decided it was no longer for us.

I stopped booking at PT b/c the experience didn't live up to our first two experiences. The first time was the absolute best, the wait staff was messing with everyone in our area of the restaurant and everyone was into it. The second time wasn't quite as good, but the waitress did make my 30-something son get up and sing "I'm a Little Teapot" for some offense. :)

The third visit ... nada ... that was our last meal there.

Don't blame management for that, blame corporate. Managers at the parks and resorts, even ones who are higher up, don't get to make the big decisions. That all comes from much higher up.
That is what I was meaning, corporate management

We've made several trips to Disney, and dealt with various types of CMs - on the phone, via email and in person. I've only had one marginal experience, and the rest have been great. I try to be positive, which tends to generate a positive reaction in return.

Her response? "Don't rush on my account, you're why I'm here and you're all I have to worry about right now. Take all the time you need."

That's the customer service we expect from Disney. Glad to hear it's still alive.

I have always felt like I've been treated well by all Disney CM's and I'm still impressed with how clean the parks are kept. I think the problems are more with how much certain "guests" feel like they're the only ones who are important and are entitled to special treatment no matter how rude and obnoxious they are. I've seen some CM's treated very disrespectfully and they still manage to maintain a pleasant and patient manner. I, personally, would never make a good CM because I wouldn't take the crap they take sometimes! :)

You mean like the "guest" I got to see badger a CM into letting them onto a ride, even though their Fast Pass was long expired? And didn't care if they were holding up the line for everyone else while they stood there arguing?

I try to get to WDW at least once or twice a year. I've been 3 times in the last 12 months and I have not been treated as anything other than a valued guest. I know CMs can have bad days, but I can't help but wonder how many people complaining about being treated less than are like the "guests" I got to be stuck in line behind.
