I've heard some times are better for characters than others

I am going to book it for our first day whilst we are waiting for our room to be ready.

We ate her for the first time last Christmas and would say that a 12 noon time is the best slot. The food was fresh and hot with a plentyful supply of all fayre.

The characters take it in turns to come out every half hour or so - we saw three visits when we were there.

I would suggest you pre-book as people were being turned away from about 12.30pm

Can someone please clarify....do you make reservations at city hall when you arrive or is it like a character meal where there are special seating times with a set price and you have to book in advance?

We had a reservation at 1.00pm and stayed I think until about 3.00pm, we saw lots of characters, they seemed to be around constantly to be honest and a plentiful supply of food, which was constantly being replenished, the Lucky Nugget is one of my favourite restaurants and with such a large food selection there was something for everyone. I managed to persuade my DH to accompany me to the dessert table and between us we picked up one of every dessert, superb !!! they're miniature one's BTW.

Lucky Nugget Saloon hosts a character buffet in Frontierland. It's a set price and very popular, I think you'd have to be extremely lucky to get in without a reservation. You can make a reservation by phone before your trip, at your hotel via the telephone, at City Hall, if you have Consierge service at the hotel they will organise it for you or you can call into the restaurant itself in person.

I too am thinking of booking for Lucky Nugget in advance. I have never done this before.
Mollies_mum - what number did you use to call them? And how does it all work? lol. I'm a bit lost. Do you pay over the phone or when you get there?

You can call 0033 160 304050 - this is the Disney restaurant reservation number. You don't have to pay in advance, but using this number you can book a specific date and time for any of the restaurants in the parks or the village which accept reservations.

This is the number I used to book our dinner reservation at Cafe Mickey.

lol well...
I called them up and was on hold listening to Disney Music (YAY) for about a minute. Then a French Lady answered the phone in French (which confused me for a moment lol) then I asked if she spoke English and then we got right down to business!!
It was a lot easier than I thought. I needed to tell her the date and time I wanted, my "nom" (which is your surname they want first here) and then my "prenom" (first name), the number of people in my party. Then she wanted "le numero de votre portable" (mobile number) incase they need to contact you, then finally which hotel I was staying in. With that - the lady repeated back all of my information and that was that.
I have read that they speak excellent English when other people have called them, I think I found the one that wasn't too good lol. Luckily, I speak a little French so we were able to get there in the broken languages. In English, I asked if our seat could be upstairs - to which she replied "no you pay when you arrive" lol. I had to explain in French that I wanted a seat "là-haut" (upstairs) and we were all done then.

Hope that helps? I think the entire call - including me waiting at the start, lasted about three minutes. So it was pretty fast service

I called a couple of days ago, and had no problem at all.
The lady spoke in French first, but as soon as I said "hello" she switched to English, and we had no problem communicating.

She took all the details, as Rottie has said already, and then repeated them back to me. She also gave me a reservation reference number, but said I could either use that or my surname to let them know when we arrive at Cafe Mickey that we have a reservation.
