We are in the process of making our ADR's for our upcoming August trip. 10 days with the free dining!! :cheer2: :woohoo:

We are trying to decide on one last restaurant. We LOVE the character meals, and have already booked several of them. But for our last choice, we wanted to do a table service meal that is NOT character dining, just for something different.

It is me (36), DW (29), DS (9), and DD (2). We want to choose a fun place to go, for the kids' sake. The atmosphere is more important than the quality of the food with this selection. We've already been to the following, so please don't answer with any of these, because we are looking for something new (altho all were GREAT! :thumbsup2 ):
Whispering Canyon Cafe
50's Prime Time Cafe
Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater
Coral Reef

Do any of you DIS'ers have any suggestions for a fun, interesting or unique non-character meal not listed above? We would LOVE to try something new and fun! :Pinkbounc

I wonder if they would like Boma - the food and atmosphere are unique and after eating you all could watch the animals. Or, if the kids will do Asian, how about Teppanyaki? It's cool watching the cook make your meal, and you get to meet other WDW guests. For that matter, Biergarten might be fun. You get to sit with other guests and watch the oompah band! Good luck in choosing!

I agree with Teppanyaki. It's fun for the kids, they get their own Disney cup and dessert with their meal, and it keeps them entertained the whole time! My 2 year old LOVES it!
(Actually Kobe Steakhouse is WAY better than Epcot's Teppanyaki, but that's not on your Disney plan!) :teeth:

It's a grown up atmosphere, no characters, but entertaining enough for the kids. My older kids love trying to eat with chopsticks! I hope you try it, you'll have fun!

I have to vote for O'hana's as well. It's a very neat place to try - overlooking the 7 Seas lagoon & the Castle in the distance. There's enough variety that the kids will kind something to eat - and they will be entertained as well! They have Coconut Races, Hula Dancing demonstrations & Limbo contests! We've tried almost every character meal now - and my kids like Ohana's more! (They were 10, 4 & 1 the last time we went!)

ps - it's also nice enough that DW & I are going back without the kids in June when we celebrate our 5th Anniversary!

I like Tony's too. Kids usually love Italian cooking :thumbsup2 And if your kids have seen lady & tramp, the decorations are cute. Try to seat in the solarium or outside, lots for them to look at and will keep them occupied. :wizard:

(but I would of picked sci fi) pirate:

I know my kids LOVED the Rainforest café. Although it is not on DDP, it is alot of fun and the atmosphere is great.

I love going there on our arrival day. We usually head to DTD, and once we are done with dinner we shop around and get to bed early.

O'hana's is a blast too.

My kids loved Biergarten in Germany! Thye loved the music and the show and even ate the food!

I have to say Sci Fi Drive In. It was the quietest restaurant and my kids loved watching the old movies. They also loved sitting in the cars!

O'hana's!! My kids LOVED this restaurant on their first trip to WDW; DD was just 4 and DS was 2. Second trip was just for a few days before the DCL cruise, so we skipped O'hanas. Headed back again next week and the kids made sure that we didn't miss their favorite restaurant - we're trying it for breakfast this time. I hope that the characters there in the AM will make up for not having coconut races like the PM!

Another vote here for O'hana's!! We really enjoyed both the atmosphere and the food. If you book it right you can get a wonderful view of Wishes. We had an ADR for 8:20 and were lucky enough to get a window seat. Disney magic at it's best!!! :wizard:
