What is a Dole Whip???

Wow--that citrus swirl sounds really good. Does it taste alot like an orange push-up? You know-that wonderful treat we ate as kids that was wrapped in a dotted cardboard tube and had that really cool plastic disc on a stick that you could find endless ways to play with when you finshed the dessert? Or is it more like a yummy dreamsicle with the orange sherbert on the outside and the vanilla ice cream in the middle...MMMmmmm Or is it totally its own taste experience?

Now I have two treats to discover: the dole whip AND the citrus swirl.....how will I ever get around to the chocolate treats??? (Don't feel bad for me :sad1: .....I'll find a way to fit them all in :teeth: )

It's just pineapple soft serve ice cream. You can get a float, as well, which is just vanilla soft serve with pineapple juice poured over it.

Actually, the float is straight pineapple soft serve over pineapple juice. They will make it with swirled vanilla or chocolate if you want, or even straight vanilla or chocolate. Why anyone would ruin the pineapple flavor with a vanilla or chocolate swirl is beyond me! :confused3

If I am not mistaken, the menu says something like "pineapple soft serve" or something like that. I don't think it actually says "Dole Whip". Although there is a Dole sign somewhere on the menu.

Here is a picture of the stand that sells the Dole Whips:

I have no problem fitting them all in!! :rotfl: Just get a dole whip as a snack walking around, parades, etc. Get the chocolate for dessert with lunch/dinner. That's what I do!

It's good to know that it says pineapple soft serve. I'm not the brightest and would keep looking for the menu to say Dole Whip. :) The Citrus Swirl was pretty good. The orange juice was very tart but the vanilla balances it out pretty nicely. Does the place that have "Dole Whips" also have root beer floats? I think I was at the right place just didn't order the right thing. I can't get the pictures on here at work (yeah, I'm working hard) so I can't drool over the food at work. Maybe that's a good thing. :teeth:

Aloha Isle does have root beer and coke floats. You got your citrus swirl at Sunshine Tree Terrace which is just outside the exit of the Tiki Room. Aloha Isle is over near the Treehouse. Here's the menu for Sunshine Tree Terrace from AllEarsNet. I posted Aloha Isle's menu in an earlier post so you can compare the two.

It's more like a dreamsicle because it's not just solid orange and vanilla mixed together. You know when you get vanilla and chocolate twisted together in a cone/cup? It looks like that just frozen orange juice instead of the chocolate. It is pretty good. The orange juice is a tangy orange juice it's not very smooth or sweet. But I think it kind of balances itself out with the soft serve. And it looks pretty. :)

Thanks for the info. It sounds good to me but my DDs and DH will probably not touch it as they don't like pineapple. It also sounds like it would be good with a little coco lopez and rum...sort of a dole float colada :rolleyes1

Now THAT would be a treat! :thumbsup2

Actually, it's not really orange juice either.

I tried to get a Dole Whip last time we were there. I couldn't find it!!!! We went to this ice cream sort of stand (it was right next to the Tiki thing) but I read the menu and it didn't have Dole Whips so I got some frozen orange juice and vanilla soft serve twist thing that was pretty good. Maybe I'll have to search more next time...

We almost did the same thing as we saw folks wandering around it somethign that looked like Dole Whips. I asked for Dole Whip specifically and they directed us to a different booth (Aloha Isle) aroudn the corner. This worked out as dd4's was HUGE and there was a nice place to sit down nearby Aloha Isle that wasn't very crowded. It was a good respite!
