What is a Ding?

Sorry to sound like a dingbat but what is a ding?

Southwest has a little program you can download to your computer to which they will transmit fare specials based on a list of cities you create. When a new special hits, it makes a "ding" noise (unless you have your PC sound turned off like me), thus the name.

Thanks, I wish I were flying Southwest instead of US Air. I hear US Air has been horrible for on time flights which will be me not a happy camper if I am late getting to WDW!

You're apparently in S. NJ. Are you close to Philly? I think SWA serves Philly. USAir serves the closest airport to me, but I happily travel an hour further than that to get to two different airports that offer SWA. SWA spoils me, compared to the legacy carriers.

In what context? If you mean on a car, it is a small dent ie when another car door hits your car it puts what is called a ding.
