I have been reading this on some of the posts and was wondering since we are planning our trip for next year and will need a 2 bedroom.

There are 2 different combinations that give guest a 2 br combo.
1) A dedicated 2 bedroom. Think of an apartment with 2 bedrooms. the normal set up. :rotfl:
2) Disney will some times give you a 1 bedroom and actually the studio next door to it. There is a solid lockable door between the two. This is known as a 2 bedroom lock-off.

I loved the lock off when my in-laws traveled with us, it sort of gave them their own private apartment and granted every one a bit of privacy.

A lock off unit means it is made up of a 1 bedroom and studio connected with the connecting door between open. In a dedicated 2 bedroom, there is no seperate entrance to the studio from the outside hall, and the 2nd bedroom will not have a kitchenette like the lock off will.

To add to the above, remember that in a 2 bedroom dedicated, the second bedroom has two queen size beds.

In a 2 bedroom lock-off, the second room, which is really just a Studio opened up to a 1 bedroom villa, has a king size bed and a sofabed layout. It also then offers a small food prep area with microwave, toaster, etc.

DW and I have never found that the 2 bedroom lock-off worked for us, as we all share in the kitchen and living room areas of the villa, and everyone travelling with us appreciates a "real" bed.

Not necessarily true! At OKW ALL the studio/second bedrooms have 2 queen beds and no sleep sofa in the second bedroom.

As far as I know, there are NO studios that have a king size bed, so the mention above of a studio opened to a 1 bedroom villa, should say it has a "queen size bed and sofabed." A 1 bedroom villa has a king size bed, but it is in the Master bedroom and not in the lockoff studio portion.

Some of the dedicated 2 bedrooms at BCV have the queen bed & sofabed in the 2nd bedroom. You have to actually reserve the dedicated 2 queens.
