What insurance papers do I need for car rental?

I'm leasing a van next week (well, almost next week!) from L&M. I know I need to bring a copy of my declaration page from my policy, which I have, but do I also need to bring the actual insurance card?

The only proof of insurance I have brought is the wallet i.d. card that comes with the policy.

Most times, I'hve never been asked to prove I have insurance.

I've searched L&M's FAQ's and Policies and cannot find anything other than "renter must provide proof of insurance". Where do you see the specifics?

It has been awhile since I actually perused the web site since I would not rent from them on a bet, but, it used to be there. It is not exactly clear what they require, so, I would call them and ask.

Just called and was told to bring EITHER my insurance card OR declaration page. I'm good to go.

Many people don't carry collision because their own car is quite old. (Generally after six years collision and comp. insurance is is not worth the cost)

So in that case you wouldn't have proof of collision coverage no mater what papers you bring.

Before booking, check the rental company rules or policies, should be on their web site, to find out whehter they require you to buy their coverages if you don't have the same kind of covrages on your own car.
