While I expect we will venture ashore on each of our days when we are at a port, I was curious: what if you decide to come back early or don't go ashore at all? Are there activities planned onboard on the days the boat is docked during the cruise?
There are limited actvities on the ship on port days while in port but the pools are open (and WAY less crowded), the spa is open, and it's a GREAT time to be on the ship. Many times I stay on the ship all or at least part of a port day.
If you want to see the onboard activities, check out the port day navigators on my site at www.castawayclub.com and Dave's site at www.dcltribute.com
We never bother getting off the ship in Nassau anymore...plenty to do on board, and virtually no crowds at the pools etc.

That's what I really expected, that there would still be plenty to do onboard. Since there is not really enough time in port to really explore, I think we may go ashore for a while, but I can imagine we'll head back in the very early afternoon. We are not big on shopping or the beach, so we'll likely have our fill by then, and can enjoy more of the ship.
I would expect that the entire ship, not just the pools, are a lot less crowded?
You're right, Fred,
but may also encounter some working teams maintaining the ship, doing some painting, exchanging wood panels, foam-cleaning the carpets and so on. It's the only time they can do this without bothering too many of the guests.
The ship seems to be less crowded in the morning, as people tend to get off early. The advantage of getting off in the afternoon is that you might get better bargains at the Straw Market from merchants who want to make those last few sales before backing up for the day.

We will not get off the ship on our next cruise when we are in Nassau. The fact that we did not enjoy Nassau last time is besides the point. This is a GREAT day to use the pool and make spa reservations. A lot of RnR on this day! We look forward to Nassau day in December JUST SO we could stay on the ship! We also hate to miss the meals we paid for because we are off the boat. We just want to take advantage of everything! Hubby and I LOVE to eat!
We stayed onboard while the Wonder was in Nassau February 17th. (last week) No crowds to do anything and for a first time cruiser, it was neat to explore the ship then. Plenty of chairs by any of the pools then. We even did a load of laundry in the early afternoon and were the only ones in the laundy on deck 6.
