What If You Are Already Booked???

Although this does not apply to me at the moment, we are thinking of booking our next trip for December of 2007. I see that they are now running a promotion that on certain dates in December 2006 the value resorts are $69.00 per night. If you have already booked, and they start a deal such as this next year, do they adjust your vacation total automatically?

They won't adjust it automatically, you will have to call and have it adjusted. Sometimes the offer is for new bookings only so they can't change your existing reservation.

On the resorts board is an area for "code watches". If you book and a code comes out, quite often (as long as it is the right type of code) you can apply it to your existing ressie. That's what we did, and moved up a resort grade for 8 nights for $32 total. That code watch area can save a LOT of money!

If some nights within your stay are sold out for the special rate you will not be able to simply have the special rate apply.

But in some cases you can (1) book an auxiliary stay for yourself for the nights that are not sold out, at the promotional rate, then (2) shorten the original stay still at the old higher rate to exclude the nights on the auxiliary stay, and (3) then add the rest of the names for your party to the auxiliary stay. Now you will have two back to back stays at the same resort which is really no big deal. There is a slight chance you will have to switch to a different room for the second stay.

This same procedure would be used if the first half of your stay is during a high season such as summer and the second half is during a low season such as fall.
