If we stay at the Dolphin - we would just have gray magic bands - generic
If we buy ones we like from the online Disney Store and we get our plastic tickets from
maple leaf dot com
Can we get WDW to link our plastic tickets onto the online Disney Store Magic Bands ?

Nothing is “on” a band. The band just acts as a key to your MDE account, like your plastic ticket does. Link you band to your account and they will function like a ticket.

You can link your own MB to your account - just follow the directions on MDE and use the code on the inside of the band. You can purchase from Disney store or shop Disney parks or buy one in person after you arrive.

Just to clarify - a stay at Dolphin (or Swan) won't get you a magic band (even a grey one!).

When you purchase your tickets you also link them to your MDE and then you can use a MB or the plastic ticket to access park admission and FP+.
The MB and the Ticket card are like "keys' to access the info in your MDE.

Staying at the Dolphin the only benefit of the MB is slightly easier access to park entry and scanning in for FP+, you won't be able to charge to your room or open the door. If you purchase memory maker having a MB does get you automatic download of photos and videos so that's a plus.

is MDE a website ?
Sorry we have not been back to WDW since 2012

My Disney Experience.
You need to set up an account.
You can go to the Walt Disney World website to do so.
You will also want to download the app.

Don't forget to tell her how glitchy it can be. I haven't had some of the problems others have, but my FP window hasn't opened up yet. When April gets here, we'll see if my luck still holds.

As @Queen of the WDW Scene has said, it's called My Disney Experience. You'll find it on the Disney page at the top on a drop down menu. Always remember depending on the circumstance you're going to find that the website my work better than the app, or the mobile site may work better than the website and so on and so on. You've got some catching up to do if it's been 6 years since your last trip! Have fun!

I don't find it too bad. I haven't had any major issues.

I really just think it depends from one person to the next. I've had good luck on Chrome and the Incognito mode. On the app, I think there's only been once or maybe twice where I haven't been able to see my plans. I just hop on my desktop and there it all is. Couple times on the desktop my magic bands weren't showing that we ordered. I went to my Safari browser and guess what...there it was!
