Yep. That's what happens when you have a welfare and tax system that rewards people for staying at the bottom of the income range. There's no motivation to work hard and learn skills that would put people in the middle class.

Seriously, though...The right will never achieve the things it has on its "agenda", because to do so would take away the only things they have to campaign on.

When you have the Executive and Legislative branches run by the same party, common sense would dictate that everything that the controlling party wants would be rubber stamped through, no questions asked, and that would be a good thing for the majority party.

In reality, the bickering that goes on among the contolling party members seems to increase because everyone thinks that their fellow party members owe them something and refuse to negotiate on anything. It's probably why we have a soaring deficit (no one wants to say no to their fellow republican's spending) and the only substantial legislation that this President has passed are his tax cuts.

It's actually the left that wants to control vast amounts of other people's money and control over their private lives. I would hazard a guess that most of the PC police exist on the left. In fact, the left is petitioning one of our Ct. State legistators to ban cell phones in grocery stores, movies and banks.

Neither party has holds a monopoly on political correctness. If you don't see that political correctness exists in both parties, and in politics in general, then you aren't honestly looking.

I'm not sure bad manners is cause for legislation but I can sure understand someone getting irritated enough by inconsiderate cell phone users to introduce a bill, if only to send a message.

I really don't find cell phone users anymore irritating than a parent screaming at her kids, children running up and down the aisles pushing the kiddie shopping carts or acquaintances who run into each other blocking the aisles talking. Too often when liberals want to "send a message" they end up infringing on everyone's freedom.

If I pay $100.00 for a theater ticket or $9.00 for a movie ticket, I expect to be able to enjoy it. If I can't, then it's the cell phone user that's infringing on my freedom!

I certainly agree with the fact that cell phone users are inconsiderate morons in the theatre; I think the "pressure" however should come from other theatre goers and not from the state.

The constituants of the cell phone ban legislator (Representative Roy,) are. He denies that he can be pressured to present a bill to do so. I think because it made the morning news here in Ct.

Actually, I'd argue that the right actually being uncaring and indifferent is what prompts the attacks, but hey, that's just me.

But shucks...If only we could stop all welfare (except the corporate variety, of course)...allow employers to discriminate against groups of people that they don't like (read: that are different from them)...legislate for prejudice against gays instead of against it...give health care only to those that can afford it (why should poor people be given access to a doctor ?!?)...lower taxes on the people that can most afford to pay them while raising them on everyone else...teach religion (ONLY christianity, of course, since those others don't really count) in schools rather than science...legislate what people can do in the privacy of their own homes and doctors offices...install a press that only glorifies our illustrious leader rather than asking tough questions when they need to be asked...

If only we could have all of that, then we would have the perfect society.
