What if it rains?

We are taking a Disney cruise, but are staying an extra 2 nights to hit magic Kingdom with DD (2 1/2) and DS (7 mos).

I am now wondering what to do with the day and a half that we have if it rains. WE are staying at All Star Music, but will not have a car available.

Thoughts?

Rain really thins out the crowds in the parks. Put on ponchos and enjoy the park with low crowds and short lines.

rain showers are usually short by the time you see a show they are done. Get the cheap rain ponchos at home they are expensive to buy on the grounds. Have fun!

You could also tour the resorts. The easiest ones to hit are those on the Magic Kingdom monorail loop (Grand Floridian, Polynesian, and Contemporary). Take a look around, have lunch, visit the gift shops, look for hidden mickeys, and have the kids participate in one of the activities offered (you can pick up a schedule at the front desk).

Once it stops raining, hop back on the monorail and finish your day at Magic Kingdom.

I second this. Especially if you get to the park early. Resort guests tend to wait to see if the weather clears before venturing out. Locals don't usually bother to go when it is raining.

See some shows, dine, tour resorts. Disney buses, monorail or boats will get you most anywhere around Disneyworld at no cost.

Most stores at Disneyworld sell ponchos if you dont have your own.

Like other PP said, the rain really makes the lines short! But if you'd rather not deal with the rain, Disney Quest is a great place to go. You can take the Disney buses to DTD so you don't need to worry about a car.

It doesn't rain long and you are on vacation. If you can't let loose and have fun in the rain while you are on vacation, you might as well not even go. Ponchos and a smile will get you through the few moments of rain.

What time of year are you going? During the summer, at least when I've gone, it seems to rain almost every day, but they are big storms that don't last long. Very impressive to watch come in.
I've been there during the winter when it rains too. I don't remember how long that lasted, it wasn't the big afternoon thunderstorms like the summer, but other poster's are right-it thins out the crowd and I don't mind it.

Don't worry about it. Its something you can't control and you were born drip-dry. It doesn't stop most people.

My parents went in May, which is when we'll be there. They said it rained every day, but it was in the early evening, and it always stopped pretty fast. But, they said it gets even hotter after the rain! We got lucky in October, as we didn't see a single drop! Thank God b/c I didn't even think to bring ponchos! A must have for this May though!

You should still go to the park. The lines will not be long and the park should not be crowded. Bring umbrellas and most of the rides are indoors you just have to walk from one to the other. But if you don't want to waste a park pass on a rainy day then there is also downtown Disney and the Boardwalk area to visit.

Who cares about rain...your at Disney! Parks are less crowded, most of the people that are there are huddle inside buildings, and so the lines are really short. Go have fun and make some memories...

P.S. I Recommend the Disney ponchos; they may be like $8 but they will replace them for free if they rip and they make a nice little souvenir.

If it rains.....you get wet! As long as the weather is fairly warm you should be OK. A problem could arise if there is lightning in the area. When I was there in '07 we were just about to board Expedition Everest when the halted the ride due to lightning in the area. I imagine that all rides that go outside are halted for this reason. It's a great time to head to one of the indoor attractions.

Days are going a warm so so not worry about the weather and not rain was coming today, so enjoy your 2 extra nights in Disney Land and wonder with your friends. I also loved a Disney Land but I goes there only two time, I want to be there with my friends, I never forget my those holiday which I spent over there.

Just got back from WDW, and had one day of rain. Torrential, pouring rain. Things to think about: shoes that are going to function well while wet. if the attractions you are most interested in will close b/c of rain. if the other members of your group are going to be miserable if they get wet. The ponchos work well, especially if you have a backpack that needs covering, but buy them before leaving your hotel, as the lines will be long (and could be in the rain) in the parks. When you take them off when you get to an inside attraction, fold them so the wet part is on the inside, so you can carry them w/o getting yourself wet.
The rain we had lasted most of the day, on and off parts being very heavy. During those times, lots of puddles formed-my tennis shoes vent well, so dried quickly each time we went indoors, but DH wore docksiders (what was he thinking?) and his feet weren't happy. Heavy rain cut down on families with little kids/strollers. But, we were at HS, and Indiana Jones and Epic Stunt Spectacular close when it rains. Still wasn't enough to cut down on the lines at Toy Story Mania! though. Still didn't manage to get on that.
