Just put dtr into a three year black belt program. Other then that she plays basketball she will be 12 and is 5'7

My dd is 10 she does a competitive All Star Cheering team, and Horseback Riding- she takes lessons all year and goes to some shows in the summer, she plays clarinet in the school band and is in the chorus as well. I think she is going to give up band next year as she doesn't have time to practice as much as she should. We have a constant strugglew ith her b/c she wants to do EVERYTHING and it can get to be too much of a time commitment!

DD is only 4 but she has preschool (I wanted this for her and although it is great for her to get ready for pre-K next year she doesn't have to, so I kind of consider it an "activity" too). She does gymnastics once a week and dance once a week. She told me last night she doesn't want to go to dance anymore - but it's because her class had a couple of kids quit and they were combined with a bigger class making for a really big class (well big compared to the 5 or 6 in her original class). I'm hoping after she gets used to the bigger class she goes back to loving dance like she did before. I don't know if she will do both next year or not.....right now my sister pays for gymnastics which is why I went ahead and committed to dance. I do plan on putting her in Tball next year too so I don't know if I want her doing all three, although baseball is late spring and summer and dance is the school year....of course gymnastics can be school year or there are special summer sessions (which she did do last year. Part of my limiting her is financial and part is strictly not wanting her to do too much. She wants to take ice-skating lessons but DH put his foot down and said no more - maybe when she stops one of the other activities.

DD 7 is in team gymnastics, twice a week for 2.5 hours each and Fridays for 2 hours. She can go on Sat. if we want, but she also plays coach-pitch baseball and has games on Saturdays so we haven't been going on Saturdays this spring. Her schedule is pretty full right now, but she loves it. She'll start a special dance class w/ her team next year that is an hour long once a week.

DD 5 does gymnastics and dance for an hour each per week and also plays t-ball.

DD 4.5 is taking ballet through preschool and then swim lessons 1x/week at night. I am probably going to put her in horseback riding lessons in the fall and ballet will stop b/c she'll be going to kindy.

My 10 year-old dd does horseback riding lessons on the weekend (with some showing throughout the year) and band at school. My son, 9, does intramural sports at school; soccer, volleyball, and basketball.

We have always let the kids choose their activity, but only one at a time. They have to fulfill the season, term, session, or year before going on to something new. So my oldest did dance at 3 &4, switched to swimming at 5, then onto gymnastics at 6, onto ice skating at 8, and then Irish Dance at age 11 (which she is continuing with almost 15. My only exception to the ONE ACTIVITY rule is a musical instrument. So she has also been in the school orchestra playing viola since 4th grade. On and off, she has private lessons as well.

My 9yo did swimming at 3&4, and softball at 5. Then, began Irish Dance and is still in it. No signs of changing.

My 8yo boy did softball at 4&5, Irish Dance at 6 (was NOT his thing but he finished his year), and baseball at 7. Doing baseball again this year. As soon as he's old enough, he will do basketball in the fall and baseball in the spring. He's a sports FANATIC.

My 5yo did nothing till Irish Dance, which she just started. I was trying to make her wait till age 6 but she was positive she wanted to start. SHe'd watched the other dd's in their ID class enough to feel comfortable, I guess. She'll do her first competition in a couple of weeks.

My DD8 has been taking dance--Ballet, Tap, Jazz, gymnastics and swimming lessons since she was 3. This was the 1st year I let her do competitive dance. She's on a mini--Ballet and Tap team. She loves it!!!!

My DD is 21 months and is in a Dance and Music class once a week and we go to storytime at the library. In the fall she will be starting preschool, its a "stay and play" class where I stay in the classroom too!

All 3 of my girls do dance (DD12 tap and DD6 & DD7 ballet) Aug. through May. They All 3 do some form of softball (teeball and fast pitch) and DD7 does soccer during each season. Since I host all the library children's programs, they attend everyone. Durning the summer I work more, so they attend day summer camps and DD12 goes away for 1 week to overnight camp. We have a pretty full daily schedule, but in the down time I miss it.

My DD 10 does year round competitive soccer and basketball. She was taking violin and then piano, but just decided it wasn't for her. She is also in choir. She played softball for the past 3 springs, but isn't this year.

My DD 7 has done a little of everything. She plays rec soccer and is starting swimming this summer. She has played softball the past 2 seasons, but not this spring. She also started basketball this past fall. She is also in choir.

With my younger kids I learned (from having older ones) not to overschedule them!

DD (10) - baton twirling, swimming and she will be starting tennis lessons in a few weeks.

DD (9) - baton twirling and swimming

DS (7) - basketball and swimming.

All 3 took gymnastics for a few years and the girls had dancing lessons for a few years before they decided to stick with the twirling and ds loves playing basketball.

DS (4.5) has tumbling and swim lessons 2x a week during preschool (he goes to full day preschool). He does rec basketball on Saturdays (<1 hr, no games)

He wants to join a soccer team with his friends but I'm not ready to start with the whole evening practice/weekend game thing quite yet. At least with basketball I know it's the same time every week and can plan around it.

DD9 takes ballet, tap, jazz & hip hop (total of 3 classes per week). She also takes piano and karate. She'll be taking a karate break in April, though, because dance gets really involved with recital rehearsals on Saturdays and Sundays the entire month.

DS4 takes karate and will play weeball (YMCA's t-ball) beginning in mid-May. He plays soccer in the fall.

Both kids take swimming lessons every summer.

DD 11 is on the track team, in Drama club and is in church youth group and bible study.

DS 17 is in show choir, Drama club and works.

This is just about right. In years past, they have been in much more and its gets to be too much.

DS 10-----Scouts, 4-H, runs 5k races with DH (tried guitar for 8 months but poor kid did not have a sense of rhythm and got too frustrated and finally gave it up; also tried soccer one season & ended up picking dandelions most of the time! lol)
DD 5 (will be 6 in 2 weeks)------piano (has the rhythm DS doesn't have) & will be starting T-ball in a few weeks (we'll see if it goes better than DS's soccer!)

They also do some swimming lessons in the summer months, as well as an occasional interest-specific short summer day-camp at the local university if/when they are interested.

my dd 7 does gymnastics and my other dd 7 does dance and they both play the clarinet at school. the one who does dance wants to do karate next year so I will be checking into that. my ds is only 2 so nothing for him yet

DD11 does figure skating. It was a four morning a week thing, but she made the decision to cut back to 2 days and give soccer a try. After soccer season is over she will probably go back to full time training.

DS12 - Hockey, baseball, saxophone

DS9 - Soccer(sp.&fall), baseball, 1x week after school enrichment program at his school which has included things like Spanish & yoga, sailing/ swimming lessons in summer

DD5 - Ballet/Tap, soccer, t-ball, swimming lessons in summer

The hard part is that the boys have gotten to the age where they travel out of town for their sports which takes up a lot of time. I think I used to have a life of my own.:confused3 :rotfl:
