I wanted to walk out. I almost did, twice. During the first 30 minutes.
Did I think it was a good movie? Absolutely, on another level, wonderful.

Watching that movie, putting yourself in their shoes was heartwrenching. It turned my stomach to the point of absolute nausea. I didn't think I could handle it. But, I finished the movie. Came home and made my DBF watch it online with me, so I could see it again. I handled it better the second time... caught some things.

Such a wonderfully written, performed movie with such raw emotion from all angles. So sad. I don't want to ever have to deal with that.. ever.

And for those of you who have...my heart goes out to you...what strong individuals you are.

I'm guessing you didn't read the book. Everyone I know that read the book and saw the movie hated the movie because of the big change. I haven't seen the movie, and can't decide if I'm going to (I did read the book).

Glad you liked it, though. You should read the book now and see what you think. It would be interesting to hear a person's perspective on it who saw the movie and then read the book.

I was thinking the same thing. I read the book. I loved it and blubbed and sobbed through the entire thing. I was really looking forward to the movie until I heard there was a big change. Now I am not sure I want to see the movie.

hmm.. having no idea whats in the book I can't imagine what the big change would be...except the ending? I don't know. I can't imagine thinking the movie wasn't beautiful, even if I did expect something else...

I have read quite a few Jodi Picoult books, and she tends to put an unexpected twist at the end of each one. I am guessing that the twist from the book was not carried through into the movie, which would leave me with the feeling that the movie wasn't right.

I also cannot imagine Cameron Diaz playing the mother in the story.

To be honest, since she writes so many twists into her endings, they are becoming a little easier for me to figure out. I kinda wish she would stop them.

Anyway - you should read the book. I think you would enjoy it.

I'm normally not a Cameron Diaz fan...but she did wonderful in this movie...

And...I may look into the book....ya'll have me curious now...
Deal... I read the book, ya'll see the movie :)

 Thank you.

When you are put in that situation, there's nothing you can do but fight. It's natural, it's your first instinct. To be honest, the thing I was most scared of was losing my hair. But I lost it, and I dealt with it, and I won my battle. That's all you can do.

I read the book and saw the movie, but I saw everything from the patients standpoint. And I do mean everything! But my mom was my caretaker and she came to see it with me, she had to leave the theater at a few points. I don't think reading the book would be a wise idea, the book is 10 times worse.

I thought about you as I was posting this...
I liked how, in the movie, they showed everyones viewpoint... It's not easy for anyone. And..I cried sooo hard when Kate (main girl) was apologizing to everyone in her scrapbook.. like you said, the patients standpoint. I can totally understand your mom having to leave the theatre....she's already lived this once!!
