What I want to know from the cruise

One of the things I can't wait to hear is what the non-podsquad cruisers were saying and thinking about this group.. The size, the friendships, the events, etc. and how many of you have recruited new members to our family from the cruise??

Speaking for my daughter she wasn't sure what to expect before the cruise. When I told her we would be cruising with 300 people from the DIS she didn't get it. She had a wonderful time and kept remarking how nice and friendly everyone was.

She know understands the addiction we all have to the DIS. :)

My DH is a non-dis'er although he enjoys WDW. I can tell you that he had the best time on the cruise - he met and talked with all the members of the podcast, and almost everyone else that had been on the cruise thread/facebook. We had some fun nights at the adult club and laughed alot. He is excited for the next one!

The size of the group was huge - I met almost everyone, but, since it was a large ship and people were always moving around, you would just see groups of people here and there. The events were nice because it brought everyone together in the same place at the same time.

While I post here very frequently, my wife Val is almost never seen. She relies on me to tell her what's interesting from here. But after meeting everybody on the cruise we struck up some real friendships and she's resolved to becoming active here on the boards as well. She didn't feel like an outsider at all.

Val is a great lady!! I look forward to seeing her post here more often! You are pretty great too Jeff. :)

What about the people who are not "with" a DISser? The innocent family, who paid rack rate, for their vacation?

Shock? Awe? Annoyance?

Okay, I SO read this wrong. I thought you just asked who got PG while on the cruise. ROFL!!!!!!

Definitely lots of folks asked us about our lanyards (huge props to the team on those - which were helpful in countless ways). When we explained we were all fans of a Disney podcast the faces usually turned blank and we'd say, "If you love Disney check it out", and point to the URL. I think most of them wanted in on our FE Exchange, which was huge and awesome!

There were comments like "Wow, there is a really big group on board, huh?" We also got asked if it was a convention of some sort.

The CMs, though, ALL commented on how wonderful this group was. Since we are all Disney fans and all podcast fans, I think our group likely went above and beyond in thanking CMs for their hard work, etc. where as "generic" cruisers just accept it.

it is amazing the number of folks that are computer geeks that are part of the group (work in the information technology industry) And my BF commented many times how inclusive and friendly everyone was to everyone in the group.

Kathy - DD Morgan said the same thing! She always rolled her eyes at me when I would turn on the podcast and after your recording, she is now trying to figure out what she wants for her screen name so she can talk to her new friends.

As to the other cruisers, I probably had a dozen people ask me about our group. Just like Ragtopday, we directed them to www.disunplugged.com and specifically to Tracy. We even talked to a guy at our airport who was also just getting off the Wonder. He said he is the Disney person in his family and will make sure he books the podcast cruise the next time. We even had people we invited to the live show onboard. Everyone we talked to thought our group was great. They were jealous once they found out what they missed :) I did have someone on the first day ask me if I was an employee because of the shirt and lanyard after I was telling him where to go to have his kid signed up for the Club.

My cousin cruised with us and has cruised (not disney) many times before. She commented that it was a lot of fun cruising with a group like this, and she didn't even come to any of the events (she fell ill on most of the cruise). She still enjoyed it immensely with the group aspect.

I had a lady (non DISER) stop me in the hall as I was delivering FE gifts. she asked who our group was and how she could get in on the FE thing......she literally talked to me for a good 5 minutes in the hall wondering what it was all about. i think it definitely made some folks wonder who we were and wish they were a part of it.

I had a great time, while I didn't meet everyone, i did meet a ton of folks and everyone was so super nice!!!!!

We probably steamrolled everyone at WaveBands. Our group was loud, and really obnoxious (okay, so that was just me...). But we did try to be supportive of all those Karaoke singers who were NOT us. And some of us made some of them look like professionals...just sayin'.

I got a lot of people asking about our group, and our FEs, and I did feel a little bad when I'd go from door to door passing out gifts, and some li'l tyke would give me a look as if to say, "Where's mine???"

All in all, we were a very well-behaved bunch of people. Just VERY friendly. My DH befriended a few people that were WAAAY more obnoxious than all 300+ of us put together.

lol, when i was giving out fish extenders i would hear people walking by comment on the decorated doors... people think we're nuts, go figure.

I agree, I had a lot of folks asking questions, next year I'm printing up business cards explaining who we are and why we're there.

Kevin needs to come on this thread and tell his story about the lady that asked him about our group.
