What I like about the CB

is that you can vehemently disagree with someone on one thread, and yet be in total agreement on a different thread.

I LOVE the reasonable exchange of ideas, thoughts, and opinions.

Anyone else??

I agree. I think for the most part, that is what occurs. What I have a big problem with are those who cannot debate an idea without holding a "grudge"on another subject and letting a previous discussion color their response or attitude, even though it has nothing to do with subsequent discussions.

I agree..You and I are total polar opposites on politics but we seem to et along fine outside the political realm. We've also never reall gotten nasty with each other when we disagree

I agree.

The CB is such a mix of people, it is really great to hear so many different opinions and ideas. Sometimes they make me change my mind, sometimes they make me sure I am right.

But, yeah, there does seem to be a "divide" on some issues because of some posters who never look beyond one opinion that was posted. I will admit there are a few posters that irritate the crap out of me, but I know there will be some thread that I will agree with them on at some time.

Absolutely!You and I disagree on every political subject, but on every other topic we agree.

Which only shows to go you (yes,that was o purpose)we are not so different afterall!

I love the DIS for many reasons. Mostly because it keeps me connected to the happenings in America.

Number 1 Lesson learned on the CB: Be consistent or have facts to back up the change in position. As frustrating as it can be, it keeps me honest and forces me to choose positions based on facts rather than pure emotion.

Number 2 Lesson learned on the CB: No matter how different our positions may be regarding the issues of the day, if we're all at the World together we'd all be able to raise a glass together and have a few laughs.

I love the CB because of the variety of topics. Pets, menus, school, health, jobs, shopping, whatever I'm in the mood for, I can discuss.

Unfortunately, I haven't had the same good luck as the rest of you re the balance of agree/disagree. I've been attacked several times and those wounds are still raw. I want nothing to do with those posters when I see them on a thread.

I do like to see differing opinions and in some cases it has changed my opinion.

Two of those that I can think of

1) Gay marriage - I was worried that if it was legal that it would be forced on existing churches. Once they passed the law in MA and nothing changed WRT church weddings, my concern was gone and I am all for them.

2) Eliminating the income tax for sales tax - Never thought about it before but now I think it is a good idea.

I depend on the DISboards CB to keep me current on what's 'up'.

I disagree mightly (mostly about politics) with some posters but find I can find agreement about most other things.

I understand that fear, but this has always been my take... Churches/Synagogues have refused to marry people for various reasons for ages... Look at all the interfaith marriages that some places refuse to do..I have never heard of a church being forced to perform one...If they have ever been sued by anyone about it, I'd guess they have lost because they still have that right..I totally believe a religious institution has the right to choose who they will or will not marry..

I really aplaud the fact that you are willing to reevaluaute your positions when new facts arise...Many people won't do that.
