What I learned today!

You are just so supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! I will definately benefit from your hard work as I am a newbie!

I saw the tip on the over-the-door organizer and ending up buying 3 of them (different styles/sizes). None of them fit over the bathroom door at Pop Century. The door was too wide.

Same here, we had to drape ours over the bar in the closet to use it.

Here's a hint I learned from the Dis...enter your adr into your calendar on your cell phone. You can check your calendar to remind yourself what time your adr is and you'll have the adr # right there for you:)

As an add on to this, we printed out a page that had our name, hotel and cell phone number on it and took a picture on each memory card. That way if someone found the camera and wanted to give it back, they would have a chance with my info

I was thinking about this yesterday since I was in NYC and almost left my camera at a restaurant. Thanks for the reminder and great idea!

Just wanted to let you know that I have enjoyed reading your tips and have learned a lot for our upcoming trip. I have missed reading them the last several days and hope everything is okay.

Thanks for sharing all of your research!
Christy

It isn't necessary to return to the hotel to re-activate your KTTK card. Any customer service counter can help. I did it at the customer service at Epcot when I figured out the whole cell phone/key card issue. Took about 3 minutes to fix. I think I had to show ID IIRC.:goodvibes

That is really great to know! THANKS!!!

Sorry for the delay, With the flurry of activity leading up to our vacation picking up it is becoming more difficult to sit down and browse for tips. When I get the chance though I will catch up!

I was on allears last night and saw the new blog by DizneyMike referencing Snow White's Wishing Well:

http://land.allears.net/blogs/michaelbachand/

Very cool. So then i started poking around the blog and saw his walking tours of the different pavilions. Now here are the definitions of the word from dictionary.com:
pa⋅vil⋅ion–noun
1. a light, usually open building used for shelter, concerts, exhibits, etc., as in a park or fair.
2. any of a number of separate or attached buildings forming a hospital or the like.

When I think of a pavilion #1 always comes to mind. But after reading DizneyMikes blog it looks like these pavilions in EPCOT are definition #2 on steroids. There are almost 40 Pictures of the Canada Pavilion alone. These places look HUGE. I have read in a few places that to really enjoy EPCOT's World Showcase thoroughly you should budget at least 2 days. I thought it was overkill but now I am not so sure! Unfortunately we are only there for one day. So we are only going to do a couple of the pavilions. I think I saw enough of Canada and the UK on the blog to feel comfortable passing those up. I know we want to go to Japan (for the Pearl Thing) and Morocco for Aladdin (And Jasmine who is daddy's favorite princess. :) ) We might stop by Norway to ride Maelstrom. And I am sure the kids would have fun on the boat ride in Mexico. Germany is where Snow White hangs out so we will probably go looking for her. Plus there is a train there?

I don't know, what are your thoughts?

The tip for today is to make sure if you have a far out date planned to go to stitchkingdom.com and sign up with the REFUB alerts. For those of us going in the next couple of weeks it will probably suffice just to check out their refurb site:

http://www.stitchkingdom.com/refurb/allrefurb.php

And remember when you go to stitchkingdom they have some layout issues with their site so you might have to scroll way down the page to actually get to the info. Everytime I go there I forget this and think my browser is froze up because the page doesn't look like it loads right?

As you know I have stolen most of my tips from allears.net. But for this one I am going to say that I like the way wdwinfo.com presents their information better. You can't go wrong either way but wdwinfo has a better presentation. Especially when it comes to the restaurants. They have Pictures, Menus, Reviews, and all other pertinent information all on the same page. There are several different ways to find the restaurant of choice so if you are looking for anything Dining check out their dining page:

http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/diningmain.cfm

(And I am not just saying that cause they are disboards official website either. By the way they have an automatic search link to the disboards forum that will find threads relating to your restaurant.)

Do you have a favorite dish from one of the Disney Restaurants? Did you know about allears.net's recipe page?

http://allears.net/din/rec.htm

There has to be at least 500 different recipes on there of different dishes from Disney's family of restaurants. What an awesome way of keeping the magic alive. You can surprise your family, you can make a child's (or a spouse's) favorite dish to get them even more excited before they go back.

I think I might print out the recipes of the dishes we might want to try and then save them, that way if we really like something we can pull out the recipe and cook it up so we can pretend we never left! :)

Hey there. What a great thread. I was wondering if I could compile your tip list and put it on my blog for everyone to read. I would obviously give credit to you.

If you happen to have them all in a document that would be great, but if not I can just copy and paste from here.

Let me know if it's cool with you. I'll hold off until I hear back.

I found this one on the Disney Mom's Forum.

There are very legitimate reasons to use ME for a bus service but not as a luggage retrieval service.

1. You have the piece of mind to know that your luggage has arrived and have more time to deal with any lost luggage issues.
2. If you use the luggage retrieval your luggage could arrive at the resort several hours after you do so you need to pack everything you will need to get you by until your luggage gets there. If you pick up your bags yourself you can pack the carryons more lightly.

The key to this is to make sure you decide before you leave. If you apply your yellow magic express tags to your luggage you will NOT be able to pick up your own bags as they will come off the plane and go into the disney area instead of to the baggage claim.

Of course it is cool with me. However, there are maybe two tips total on the whole list that I should get credit for. I have stolen the rest from every site on the web. :cool2:

As far as having the whole list in one place, this thread is the extent of it. I planned to do the cut and paste thing at some point so I can carry them with me. If you want to give me something save the credits for allears, wdwinfo, stitchkingdom, the disney moms forum, all the users on here, etc etc and just send me the cut and paste list you compile to jamieguffey@aol.com :)

I actually have to disagree with both reasons.

The airline is much more likely to lose or delay your luggage than ME. If you allow ME to handle your bags and they don't arrive at the airport, ME will start the process of finding them while you are enjoying yourselves in the parks. If you don't put the yellow tags on them, you may have to stay at the airport for a very, very long time.

Also, you should always pack everything you will need for the first 24 hours in your carry-on for the same reason.

Another strike against it is that not only does getting your own luggage add about 20 minutes to your trip, it also add extra time for everyone else on the bus, too.

Deal. I will credit the other message boards and add your user name as well. Don't worry, I won't put your email on it. Once I get them posted I will certainly send you links or a .doc file.

Who else is going to be sad when JamieGuffey actually leaves for his trip and doesn't post any more "What I Learned Today"s? :wave2:

But JamieGuffey, you do have to come back and tell us your experience. Which tips were most useful and which ones weren't.:)

I've just been reading through your tips and wanted to comment on one of them.

Height Restrictions.

The best tip we were given was at Soarin'. My DD was barely tall enough, but she'd made it onto Star Tours so we let her try at all of the 40" rides. The CM at Soarin' told her to take a deep breath. Young children seem incapable of doing so without exaggerating the movement and she stood very tall, tall enough to get on the ride. After that she always took a deep breath and made it onto every 40" ride ;)

ETA I have the same countdown as you, so I should be able to read all of your tips just in time.
