What I heard at the Pooh store

I too heard from a CM at that same Pooh Store in MGM that they will be converting it to a Tink store to coincide with the new movie of hers coming out. But the one in DTD and in MK will stay that way.

She also said that they are also going to by pushing the new Pirates of the Caribbean Movie as well and they will start edging out some of the villians i.e. Malificent and some others.

I love Malificent so I will be sad to see her fazed out but what are you going to do, the mighty buck is bigger than my plea for more Malificent! :maleficen

We were there on Thursday and it was the last day to be open... the next day it was turning into the new shop. Our son fell in love with Tigger and we were looking for a stuffed one for him. I didn't like the ones at the regular store so the cm directed us to the pooh store which is when he told us we were lucky because it was the last day open. Got him the softest Tigger that squeaks when you hug him.

They aren't cutting down on Pooh and friends in the parks---we saw them EVERYWHERE. would have liked to see someone different, though we like pooh and friends as well.
Tell me about it! I must have run into Pooh and the gang in every park, plus they were at 2 of the character meals I did (1900 PF breakfast and CP dinner)
Me and my mom LOVE Pooh and Eeyore, don't get me wrong, but they were about the only ones I ran into during the trip. It was nice but some diversity would have been good too :teeth:
Ran into Mary Poppins 3 times too. But I know that is because of the 40th anniversary DVD that just came out

-sigh- More tink and less maleficent (and other villains for that matter) doesn't sound very appealing to me. I don't mind the fact that there will be a tad less pooh around though. I think tink is over merhcandised already. But, I suppose I'm in the minority. :P

REmember she is the main focus of the 50th ann. as well She was all over DL on everything.A real Tink around the the park would be nice (like in the parade). As for the boys remember TINK will always be in love with PP so that ty in will always be there as well.

Dw will be devastated,my wallet will be extemely happy though!! On a different tangent has anyone else noticed that Piglet is missing from the majority of merchandise? Has he gone to the Big Sty in the sky? Someones Sunday roast..........
SD :paw: :rotfl:

We did notice that everything is Tink. I love her, but it was a little much. I did notice, as a previous poster did, that most of the Tink stuff is for young kids. I think that's a mistake, I grew up with Tink and would (and did) buy merchandise with her on it.

Well, Tigger has always been a #1 favorite of mine, but I also LOVE Tink and it IS hard to find adult merchandise with her on it. I saw a beautiful Tink sweatshirt on ebay from the old Disney Gallery stores (boy, I miss those stores!) that I would have killed for, but it wasn't in my size! :guilty:

I'd actually be happy with just about any character push, that knocks Stitch out though, they have waaaaaaaaaaaaay overdone him IMHO.

As for Tink in the parks, in the parades and doing autographs, I really hope they DON'T do that. I know she is in the Disneyland parade, but Tink to me is a fairy and fairies are little and they fly around very fast and are hard to catch and put in a parade!

And one more thing......for those who love the villians......
I'm a reading a new book right now called Kingdom Keepers, it is about how the Disney villians come to life at night in WDW and are trying to take over Walt Disney World. The imagineers and a group of kids they find are trying to stop them. It's geared toward young teens, but I've read about 100 pages now and it's pretty good!

I love Pooh and all his friends...watching "The Blustery Day" when I was a kid was a not-to-miss event (back in the days before you could just watch VHS or DVD's over and over ;) ) But I'm also a huge Tink fan..the real Tink...with a little sass and attitude. The new version of Tink on the fairy website is just too cutesy and little girl for me, though I realize that a 40-something woman is not Disney's target audience! :rotfl:

I work in Pooh Corner at DTD, and a guest mentioned to me a couple of weeks ago that the store in Disney-MGM was closing, but I was unaware of that. The store in MK outside the ride will not go away (since it's "linked" with the ride), and our shop is still Pooh. We are carrying some other stuff right now, due to the fact that WOD is having some rehab done in some of their rooms, and we will carry that merch while they are rehabing.

While there is not a lot of Piglet stuff out there - we have some t-shirts that are just him, PVCs and other souvies - we have gotten a new line of stuffed plush that I absolutely LOVE (and I am not a Pooh fan). They are rollie pollie Pooh and friends (that's what I would call them). They come in Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore & Piglet. They are about 5 or 6" in diameter, round almost like a ball, and very soft. My first thought when I saw Pooh (the first one we got) was that it would be great in a baby's crib or playpen. Recently a lady came in asking me for Piglet stuff, I lead her right to it, and she took him home. They are a hit!

tiki23,

I feel the same way about Tink - she not cutesy! I hate some of the new merchandise with Tink and a huge, happy smile. The shirt I bought in August has the "snotty" look, that's what she is supposed to look like. But as you said, 40 year old women are not Disney's target audience.

Not the Pooh store! :guilty:

I am 23 and love Pooh (well Piglet is my favorite). I think it's more than love. I came home with another stuffed Pooh a few months ago and dh said "this might be getting a little ridiculous". Gee maybe they have a support group for people like me.

My reply to that is, I work very hard at my job and am a very responsible individual. Aside from my love of all things Pooh I am completely mature and if seeing Pooh things around me brightens my day I don't see the problem. I don't tell him that his enjoyment of video games is "ridiculous". As a peace offering he placed the Pooh in our armoire (the only part of my obsession that is in our bedroom :) ).

Anyway, one of my favorite parts of Disney are all the Pooh stores. Pooh and friends are just about the happiest creations Disney has ever had. Anyway, I guess, as long as they don't close the Pooh shop at DTD everything will be ok.

At least they aren't replacing Pooh with a Stitch store. I don't think I could take that.

I'm not sorry to see the Pooh store at MGM go. After all, there's the Pooh store at DTD, and the giftshop after the Pooh ride at MK. There should be plenty of opportunity for the Pooh friends among us to find cool merchandise.

I'm a HUGE Tink fan and I have mixed emotions about there being another Tink themed shop (completely agree that the Tink store at MK is simply too babyish for me). Part of the appeal of Tink to me is that she's ellusive. Mickey is everywhere. Pooh is everywhere. Not everyone has a Tink shirt, kwim?

But I still can't wait to see what's in "store" when I visit in a few weeks!! :goodvibes

BTW, I used to be a huge Pooh fan (the original one), but the over-exposure completely ruined it for me. I still enjoy the books and illustrations but I'm pretty over the Disney pooh. I won't even be doing the CP buffet this trip.

THAT's what I don't want to happen to Tink!!!

Yes, I was just there today and it indeed has been turned into a Tink store! Pooh fans, don't worry, there are still Pooh stores in Downtown Disney and MK as far as I know.

I went into the Tink store at MGM yesterday and although they did have a ton of things for the little Tink fans there were some different things for adults. I saw a great sweatshirt that had "Naughty Tink" on it as well as a really cute light green sweatsuit. Also something that I haven't seen before....a battery operated Tink toothbrush.

This is a little off topic, but I just wanted to mention that JCPenney has a really cute Tink sweatshirt out. It is light blue with her on the front.

Also, Wal-Mart has some cute Tink and Mickey t-shirts in the Jr. dept. I wore one over the weekend (I'm 33), and got some many comments.

Also, Sears has Tink pj's that are too cute.

Seems a lot of non-Disney stores have adult Tink merchandise, so maybe WDW will follow suit.

Oh yay! I love Tink and she is everywhere now which makes me happy but doesn't make DH too happy! I saw that tinkerbelle shop must of been right after they opened it a few weeks ago and was in love!

I am glad to see them cutting back on Pooh. For a while he seemed to be everywhere! I love Tink. It will be good to see more adult Tink merchandise! I hope that they don't cut back on the villians too much though.
