What I find interesting about the female "face" characters...

Boy, it sounds like a lot of people must have gotten up on the wrong side of the bed. I can't believe that anyone would be uncharitible enough to make fun of a person who just "happened" to be captured in a poor picture.

I don't think that it is right to make fun of anyone, or be hurtful in our posts. We don't know who may be reading them. I would hate to think that anyone who has been hurtful here had something so blatantly ugly posted about them.

Before making fun, or being nasty toward others, we should think about how it would make us feel if that were us, or our daughter.

Still waitin for a CM to comment on this :
I'd really like to know how many different people play the same character? Like how many Cinderella's are there? How many Aurora's? And is there one role that is coveted among the CM's the most? Like is it considered a real "coup" to be Cinderella?

I never seen an Ugly princess although would say that some are more beautiful than others.
The most beautiful i have ever seen were Belle, and Ariel (although it is not the one in the photo on this thread!!) LOL

I agree. A bit off to post the actual picture of the girl. OK, laugh about it in private if you wish, and however unlikely it is for this girl to read this thread, I still think it is obvious she is in the middle of changing her facial expression whether to sing or not. Remember, even if she was filling in for someone, playing this part in the parade may be fulfilling her ambitions and I do think it is cruel to make a fool of her. On the one hand you may view her as ugly - or unsuitable to put it charitably - however the girl herself may feel very proud of being able to say 'that's me'.

First I want to apologize if the picture offended anyone.

Second for the record the girl wasnt ugly, it was just a bad picture. Weve all seen bad pictures of ourselves, and this was just one of those times.

Since this isn't a trip planning thread at all, I'm going to move this to our community board.

I cannot see the photo. I'm really glad. I hope that none of you see my photo ever. I don't think I could handle the criticism. I'm not even close to being someone nice enough looking to be chosen to portray Ariel, anywhere, much less at WDW.

I would hope that even if I was that beautiful, I would never laugh at or ridicule, in front of possibly almost 50,000 people, someone I thought was less beautiful than she should be.

Have a Disney day, everyone. I'm moving this to the community board.

A friend and I went out for her birthday last night and she had GREAT photos of her little princess (3 yrs old) with various princesses at the breakfasts they did on a recent trip. The ladies were all lovely in the typical Disney cartoon fashion -- tiny noses, big smiles, real model types. Little Anna was the cutest in MY opinion... The only thing that doesn't thrill me is all the warpaint they wear. LOTS of makeup. They look a bit clownish, but I guess when you are imitating a cartoon you NEED to be technicolor...

Last Spring my princess (who was 7) waited to see Ariel and the young woman who played her was very pretty and so nice. Erin loved chatting with her and we have great photos. I am glad they cast these young ladies by PERSONALITY as well as "look" because the kids get such a kick out of talking to them!

IMO Aladdin is ALWAYS hot!! I have never seen an unattractive Al yet and in the early 90's at the Character B'fast at the Soundstage Restaurant in MGM that Aladdin was the BEST ever!! He was originally from NY and I was wearing a NY Rangers t-shirt and he started a conversation w/me about the game the night before and without going out of character once - pretending he had a friend from NY who was a fan and what is this hockey anyway? Maybe Abu will know when he gets back from shopping w/Jasmine etc - and he was totally gorgeous!! But as I said never saw a bad one yet!! WOO!HOO! Look forward to Morocco on every trip! ;) Also, the Prince Charming at the last CRT b'fast I went to was very goodlooking and I think the Tarzan in AK Tarzan Rock's - saw the same one at every show I went to - was very fine - great body of course!! The Hercules on my last Disney Cruise was really adorable with a great bod as well - Ladies?? anything to add??

The only face character I can remember that I really, really didn't think worked wasn't because of looks at all, it was because she didn't have a clue how to act for the character. This was for Alice at the 1900 Park Fair breakfast a couple of years ago. She didn't look the part very much, either, but I can overlook that when the women do a good job with the character. This woman had no clue how to act as Alice. Instead of sweet innocence with a strange sense of humor and reality, she was playing an under-developed clueless character with no accent at all. I was very surprised she ever got that particular part.

There are a few things I would like to say in this posting. For one, someone commented on how Ariel didn't look 16...well, remember the sequel to the movie, she has a daughter and thus, is not 16 anymore. Her daughter, Melody, is 12/13 and thus Ariel is older. BUT PRINCESSES NEVER REVEAL THEIR AGES! ;-)

Someone commented about how villains are beautiful too...of course. Remember, the Queen from Snow White was the fairest in the land until Snow came around.

Also, a post remarked about how Snow White is plumper than the other princesses. Where did that come from? She has a rounder face, but in no means does that say that she is larger. Also, if the Snow White you see does look bigger than some of the other princesses, take into consideration the dress she wears!! :-)

Finally, the remarks about the Ariel picture. I have never gotten so upset as I did. I know "Ariel" and she is soooo adorable and has to be one of the sweetest girls around! Not every picture comes out well, I KNOW THAT FOR SURE!! I was thoroughly upset by all the comments, it is not easy to be doing something like that!!!

all the princesses we've met have that Disney princess look. very pretty, very sweet. picture perfect.

I knew that someone would read this who would personally know this person who portrays Ariel, and have their feeling hurt (and rest assured, now it it will likely get back to that unfortunate person how others have belittled her). Now, it has happened... it is a shame that we have to be so callous and cavalier with others' feelings in this way. I don't understand why the moderators have allowed those particular posts to stay. They are hurtful and unnecessary!

Would it be possible to remove the pictures from this thread?

If not, I really hope the that young lady doesn't run across this thread.

I was surprised at how young the young man that played Peter Pan looked when we saw him in 2001. He looked a few years older than my 11 year old son!

I think Disney does a great job casting the face characters.

I took my grandma to CRT last summer and we met the BEST Cinderella. We've seen her on the WDW commercials since then and I can see why they chose her for the commercials. Not only was she gorgeous, but she was so sweet to my 83 year old grandmother. She has the picture of her and Cinderella framed and on her wall. If anyone knows her, tell her how wonderful she is.:D

I removed the picture this morning.

Like I said earlier, I apologize for for any pain it caused anyone. Also keep in mind that people are poking fun at the picture, which I already stated this is not a real representation of the person in the picture, its a bad picture. Everyone has had pictures of themselves that look absolutely nothing like them, this was one of those times.

i've never run into any face character that i thought wasn't "perfect" for the part!

when we were on our honeymoon last september, we ran into Jasmine in the Morroco area of Epcot. she was such a delight! it was just my hubby and me...and she noticed our shirts that said we were newlyweds. she kept telling us the she and her husband aladdin were on their honeymoon too! never missed a beat. and she noticed my pen...it's an old one, but it has pictures of all of the princesses on it. i've had it for years...she kept commenting on how neat it was that i had a pen with pictures of all of her friends on it! and when we came back later, aladdin was there and he picked right up where she had left off!

the only princess i wish they could do anything for is sleeping beauty. any that i have seen just didn't look like sleeping beauty to me...her dress wasn't quite right and her hair just didn't look right. maybe it was me...i don't know...

but i love the face characters...they are so much fun to "play" with! and they've all been quite beautiful and believeable as the princess they were portraying...

A couple people have commented that they're waiting/hoping that a Disney CM will post answers to their questions. That probably will not happen. A lot of what goes on behind the scenes at Disney is kept "secret" so that the magic will always continue. A CM who divulged secrets could get in serious trouble. Trust me, Disney people do read these boards--and the threads do get forwarded from one person to another--so we all have to remember to be kind, tactful and diplomatic!

Regarding the number of Princesses, we all know that there is only ONE Snow White, only ONE Cinderella, only ONE Ariel etc. :D :D :D

Poor Sleeping Beauty. She just never looks "right." I'm not saying that the girls are not beautiful (inside and out), but there's just something about the wig, crown, dress, necklace...it just doesn't look "right."

And funny, the last time I saw Aladin, I felt really bad for him. His chest was very red. I think he had razor burn! Well, at least I knew he was a "natural" black haired man!

I went to CRT on Sept 1 for my b-day.
Mary Poppins, snow white, Aurora, Belle, and Cinderella all came along. I have the pictures and just went to look at them. All of the girls are pretty and IMO have big features (Snow white and Aurora kind of smaller features). This would have to be the case in order to be "seen" onstage or in a parade. The best in character were Snow white and Belle. Snow white made me believe she was a little girl (true to her character) and Belle was just ... Belle. My DH , who had never seen B&B, said, "Is she really like that?" when she walked away. He was very impressed.

I think the face characters are always lovely - in their looks as well as the way they act. We have hadnothing but good experiences.

I do agree that the girl who plays Sleeping Beauty is at a disadvantage. I think it is the wig that is un-natural looking. The girl was beautiful, but she looked kind of funny in the wig.
