There will be four of us DH pirate: DD (14) princess: DS (11) pirate: and me :cheer2: We would like to stay close by (but will have a car if needed) and prefer a hotel with a breakfast included; however, it is not a deal breaker. We plan on traveling mid June (yes i know ... you are barely looking for a place  ) any sugestions?

If breakfast is not an issue, then either the Candy Cane Inn or Howard Johnson's will both do you well. If a pool is more of a requirement, then HOJO's has the better pools, but otherwise you can't lose with either hotel. Both are around a 7 to 10 min walk to DL, and don't need the car to get there. I'm a big fan of HOJO's, as I stayed there with the family in Feb/09 and had a great time there. They have a small, but very well stocked gift shop by the front desk that has alot of breakfast items that are decently priced (for DL that is), but is still cheaper than eating than a restaurant if you like danishes, cereal, and a lighter breakfast. THere is a great restaurant across the street from HOJO's called MIMI's that has great food at a decent price. We loved HOJO's when we stayed there last year, and are planning to stay there when we head back to the mouse in Feb/11. Hopes that this helps you with your decision. One other thing that I'd like to mention is that the members of this board get a 15% discount at HOJO's. The discount code is R2, and use it when booking online, or if calling the hotel, ask for in house reservations, and ask for Lorealle, or Jessica.

We just stayed at Candy Cane Inn and loved it there. There breakfast is mostly bagels, pastries, donuts, cereal, juice, fruit, toast. They have peanut butter, flavored cream cheese and jellies. You can also make oatmeal with hot water from indiviual packets. The best thing about Candy Cane Inn was the free shuttle - although your kids are older and should handle the walk ok.

I would recommend their larger room though - the regular room is fairly small.

I am a fan of both the Best Westerns and the Quality Inn. They are all within walking distance and are all well maintained :) Good luck!

We stayed at the Park Vue Inn on our last trip, and it was great. It is right outside the entrance to the park (one of the two closest hotels), and had a really solid free breakfast. You can also choose a room that has bunk beds.
