Sooo, we are planning on a trip in early Sept 2021. We are only used to going to Disneyland. I like consolidating my time and getting the most for my dollar. We usually don't spend a whole lot of time in our room so that is not important. Location, value, and breakfast/perks/pools is important. Tell me what your favorite is and why???

You understand that staying offsite at WDW is way different than at Disneyland correct? Are you wanting to be as close as possible to Disney world property? Will you have a car.

As the poster above said, it’s very different staying offsite at WDW compared to DL. Even some on-site hotels are a 10-15 minute drive from a park. My favorite “offsite” hotels are the Disney Springs hotels. They are within walking distance of Disney Springs and you can get some good deals there or use/earn hotel reward points. Another nice area to look into is Flamingo Crossing. Make sure you look into the transportation option wherever you pick. Some hotels charge for transportation and some require you to sign up ahead of time. I usually like having my own car if I’m staying offsite.

Will you have a car, that changes everything.

What is your top per night budget? How many people?

When we go to DLR (once a year for the past 7-8 years) we stay off-site. Tropicana, Desert Inn & Suites, and The Anaheim are our go-to hotels. You will not find anything comparable (in distance) at WDW that is not a deluxe resort.

When we go to WDW we never stay off-site. WDW is massive compared to DLR. We do not stay deluxe because to us it is not worth it since we don't spend that much time in the resorts.

We like Pop when there are just 3 of us, POR when we take our nieces along. We were supposed to stay at the Dolphin (not Disney but in a pretty perfect location on property) in May, then it was going to be CBR in Aug...but you know, 2020.

For a first time at WDW I would stay on property. Pop if value, CBR if mod - they both have the Skyliner.
Staying on property also includes transportation to and from the airport.

I forgot to add that the Disney bubble is real at WDW. While we rent a car, have meals and spend a day or two off property when at DLR we never do at WDW. There are many things to do and some off property restaurants that are good but we just stay on property the whole time. We lived in Orlando for several years and both DH and I are former CMs so we do know what is around, staying on property is just what we prefer.

I would recommend the Lake Buena Vista area/Disney Spring area. Alot of good hotels/resorts and in walking distance of Disney Springs and a shuttle to Disney/Universal (although it's only two 3 times in the morning and two/three times back to the hotel). You can also supplement that by using the Lynx Bus that punctually comes every 15 (rush hour) to 30 minutes from 5 am to midnight right in front of your hotels and goes to Disney Springs and Disney Transportation Center/Magic Kingdom. (from there you can use the free Disney transport to go to any park) (Lynx Bus will also take you from the airport to Lake Buena Vista for only $2 with one free transfer at Sea World from the 111 to the Lynx 50.)

If you have a car then you can also access all the offsite hotels along 192/Irlo Bronson that touches the WDW property. Quality Inn by the Parks has a really high trip advisor rating with a nice pool at an affordable price. It's literally 5 minutes from Quality In at the Parks to Animal Kingdom and it's the same distance or closer from Quality in at the Parks as Animal Kingdom hotels or the All Star Mickey hotels to Epcot/DHS/MK.
