What have you seen people do that was too much like they were home?

During one of our stays, someone was leaving their room sevice trays on the floor in the hallway next to OUR door :confused3

In my opinion, thats a hazard, particularly if you're not aware there may be something out there.

That's when it's time for the front desk to get involved and do some detective work by calling up room service to determine who's been ordering in that room area. Next step on their part would be placing a call with polite suggestion to the offenders with overtone of a warning. Should be easy enough to decipher who's trays they are simply by # plates etc.

My neighbor does that - only he goes out in the morning to get his newspaper in his boxers. I swear he resembles Fred Flintstone. Then there is the man who lives just around the corner from "Fred" whom I have seen cutting his grass with a chainsaw - twice.

Chainsaw lawn mowing, now that is a very special kind of special!:rotfl:

And trash left in the hallways. And yes if you do that and you are my neighbor I will kindly put it right up against your door so that when you come out you will have to step over it and then you might remember to take it to the trash room.
GREAT idea!
Standing in the quiet pool...on the cell phone....talking loudly about some sort of business deal....get over yourself!!!
A little splish splash from the kiddos would take care of that!
Yeah, that would be annoying! My favorite is the neighbors we had above us one time in an OKW 2 bedroom where a toddler was allowed to bang the pots and pans on the floor at 6:00 am. My well placed broom handle to the ceiling came in handy that time.
Atta girl!
Sometimes when my kids are doing a quick overnight with G'ma and G'pa, I'll throw their things in a plastic shopping bag.

DH calls it the White Trash Suitcase.

Flame him, not me. :rotfl:
Love it!
This is a fun read, and I haven't finished yet. But I have to tell my story.
All the wheels were missing on the bottom rack of the dishwasher. When I called housekeeping about it, they said that must have been the villa that the guests were using the dishwasher rack as a go cart in the hall with their kids.
OMG who thinks of these things? Actually, a pretty funny idea, but not with a dishwasher we are all paying for!
I had to laugh at this, but it did bring back fond memories for me. My stepdad (may he RIP) would put his clothes in a Piggy Wiggly paper bag when he went on a trip. He would save his suitcase for when he flew somewhere.
And tuck it under his arm!?
I'm totally embarrassed to say this, but DH had just received a new Canon Rebel for Christmas and was just taking literally hundreds of pictures to get use to his new toy. The result of which was his album called "People of WDW." In my opinion..it's absolutely horrid. But on the other hand, to think he captured all these "unique" individuals was somewhat also incredible. I've begged him to just erase it. Shudder shudder shudder....awful!!!:scared1: Now...on the flip side of that coin, he caught some tender moments, happy children and wonderful memories.....but that "People of WDW" needs to be deleted!!
I am thinking retirement plan here! He could easily publish a book with those!

anybody over age 5 walking around the lobby and restaurants in pajamas.

We were even told by one child that their parents said we weren't welcome at the pool because it was for their family pool party only.

Like heck it is. If Mom and Dad didn't pay to rent out the pool, then it isn't for their family only. Let the parents come and tell others to get out and not some snotty kid. I would have been looking for a cast member to ask if the pool was closed for a private party. If not, too bad for them.

I don't like it when people leave their trash outside their villa. We had that issue last year at SSR. We promptly moved the trash back in front of their door. Take your trash out. It's gross!

at the THV our neighbors hung a line outside to dry their clothes.:laundy: They also moved their couch onto the deck and I even think I saw them changing the oil in their minivan:banana::rotfl2::cool1:

You know you are DVC redneck when you mow the front lawn of your THV villa and find an old monorail train.... Yea, like i was the only one thinking it....

Letting children cry themselves to sleep! I understand these kids are probably wired from all the activity and are going to have a hard time settling down in bed, but I'm in the villa next door and I don't want to listen to a screaming child for 20 minutes.

Wow, I'm floored by your post. I don't want a child to be screaming for twenty minutes because I am upset that they are in distress. BTW it has happened to us in a lockout so I have experienced it.

Hi All!

We just returned recently from Aulani. It was our first experience staying Ina DVC property. I was indeed taken aback by the folks who would show up at the refill station in ratty pj's, especially because the main refill station is located within the gift shop for the resort.

I also saw a gal who was surly old enough to know better by a long shot, with skin like sagging tanned brown leather wearing a bikini top that would have barely fit a Barbie doll with a g-string bottom of a similar size to match wandering around the resort without so much as a kleenex for a coverup.

Owwwww my eyes...

Then there was the gal who went everywhere for the entire week wearing her bathingsuit under a badly tied sarong... Oh, wait... That was me :-)

Take care all, help lots of people and have a "wonder"ful day!

Tisza

People sleeping on the couches in the lobbies (I do understand heath issues and not having rooms available at check in, but a wonderful thing about the DVC resorts is that there are always semi-hidden locations to snooze)

A few years back, I had to get up at 2:00 AM to get to the airport to get my flight to Orlando. My room at BWV wasn't ready until 4:45. I admit it -- I fell asleep in the lobby.

Where are semi-hidden locations in which to snooze at BWV? I know of several at BCV but none at BWV.

The People of WDW is great. I look around the resorts and parks thinking "You have spent thousands of dollars on a vacation and you come to the park looking like that!". Now, I am no fashion model. I usually dress in shorts and a t shirt or tank top with sandals and my hair in a clip. I usually do try to wear a little bit of makeup, but not overly done as it would melt off. I am speaking of people in stained or holey clothes that you can tell was done some time ago, not like it just happened. I strive for my family to be non holey (that just sounds bad) and stain free. I don't want anything "hanging out" either. I don't want to see anyone like that. Gross! Some people have a way better opinion of themselves than they should. (Sad part is-they don't know who they are) I just pray that no one looks at our family and thinks what I think. HaHa.

The plastic bags issue-I hate using plastic bags to carry anything! I won't do it anymore, as in, I have done it before, but I refuse to now. I will at least use a reuseable shopping bag. Not much better, but I hope it still puts off a better impression. (At least I am trying to save the Earth! Happy Earth Day BTW!)

Comfy Adirondack style chairs with foot rests are just outside Community Hall near the quiet pool. If the Bellvue Lounge (I think that's the name) just passed the lobby as you head toward the Inn, is closed there are some comfy, quiet spots there.

BCV has that whole little room that I love. VWL also has the whole lobby area of the villa building. I spent a great deal of time there when DS was a baby as he had to be rocked to sleep. The rockers by the fireplace were awesome and just a few steps from our villa.

Don't be talking about people in stained or clothes with holes they are DVC members that left their good clothes at home so housekeeping would not throw them out with the towels.

HaHa! I didn't think of that! I don't believe my safe is big enough to put all our clothes in for trash and towel day. Thank Goodness we only stay 7 days at our DVC! We might come back to no suitcases since they were on the floor.:rotfl:

:rotfl2::lmao:

LOL

Decorations outside the villas, I guess it bothered others because DVC took care of that problem.

Bumpin cars with scooters in the villas. Yes I saw, they actually had their door propped open, I don't think the adults were in the room and the kids were riding Grandma and Grandpa's scooters in the villas, running into walls and furniture.

And Yes, Lil Grumpy, :lmao: I called and reported it.

Smoking on balconies and hallways, towels and such on balconies, there is a line to hang them on in the tub.

And trash left in the hallways. And yes if you do that and you are my neighbor I will kindly put it right up against your door so that when you come out you will have to step over it and then you might remember to take it to the trash room.

Please be kind, I'm pretty sure I left trash in the hallway before I understood the rules and knew how to find the trash rooms. Didn't know what else to do with it when the bins got full...the people who do this just MIGHT be newbies! Hope somebody gave me the benefit of the doubt and was a little bit understanding! :flower3:

Excuse me, but the information about the trash rooms is in the information given to the guests when they arrive. Would you just put your trash outside your front door at home? At least call the front desk or housekeeping and ask instead just dumping outside the front door.

Can't anyone on these darn boards give someone the element of kindness? The snarkiness of some of the replies I see all over these boards just makes me absolutely crazed. Yes the info is there, but newbies may be just a tad overwhelmed with all the DVC information they need to absorb on top of just being plain excited by being in WDW. Good grief just give it a break. Whatever happened to kind words without sarcasm or snarky attacks?

Well after the second day of it being left in the hall I gave them the benefit of the doubt and wrote them a nice note about the trash and where the trash room was located. Guess they got the hint, I did not see it anymore.

I really wish they would make a point of mentioning trash when people check in or leave an info sheet in the room.
