What have you seen people do at DVC that was little too much like they were home?

Oh, I think that question has been wondered about my immediate traveling party at least once! We do tend to use our timeshares as "home" when needed.

Our "worst case" example was not at a DVC property but a Worldmark timeshare in San Diego. Our primary condo was being tented for termites and we needed to relocate for 5 days with boxes of food stuffs, meds, and anything else we wanted to protect from possible damage. After reading the "full list of warnings" from the exterminator, we packed boxes and boxes of stuff ... then paraded these boxes using many trips from the car into our Worldmark unit. If anyone got a glimpse into the unit, we had the boxes stacked in the living room ... looking every bit like we were truly moving in.

We've also used nearby timeshare when evacuating homes due to fire threat ... taking over several units as we rehomed with multiple households, all the children, all the stuff, bags of food, etc.

Then ... there are the trips using both RV + timeshare. Oh, my.

Oh how true! But how about the 80 year old guy at the refill station in his boxer shorts, no shirt, and flip flops? Maybe he had on a "speedo" under them; I just didn't stare that long to figure it out. I had to look away before I went blind or something.

As far as I know there is. At kidani I used it mainly to dump my dd's dirty diapers.

When I'm made to feel like I'm intruding at their home, rather than being on vacation it bothers me:

Laundry hanging on the balcony rail to dry... (on the chairs is acceptable, just don't ruin the look of the resort please)

Setting up camp at the pool and taking it over. We saw this twice at OKW. We were even told by one child that their parents said we weren't welcome at the pool because it was for their family pool party only. (This experience really damaged my opinion of OKW - I still think it's a very pretty resort though)

People sleeping on the couches in the lobbies (I do understand heath issues and not having rooms available at check in, but a wonderful thing about the DVC resorts is that there are always semi-hidden locations to snooze)

...

not DVC related, but at AK park I saw a woman rinsing her child's socks in the fountain outside the restrooms. Same fountain all the kids (and adults) love to touch.

Also read once (on the boards) of someone seeing a family washing their feet in an EPCOT fountain. Custom perhaps?

Yes, every resort has at least one trash room. The CM at check-in should be pointing it out to everyone to reduce the number of trash bags we see hanging out in the hallways with the expectation that it's housekeeping's job to tidy up after them.

Thanks another thing that really bothers me! Trash (and room service trays) in the halls, although I certainly hope these people don't do this at their own homes.

Definitely the REALLY loud conversations in the hallways with kids AND adults screaming/squealing, running, thumping and banging their way past our room. This includes the inevitable yelling at other members of their party who have advanced about 40 feet in front of them to wait because so-and-so had to go back for the camera and then continuing the conversation at that distance about their plans for the day. THESE people must think they have the entire resort to themselves!

I've worn PJ's in the hallways before, but it's to avoid the greater evil, leaving trash outside my room. If DS has a messy diaper, there's no way I'm leaving that in my villa's trash all night long. But I also don't feel like changing back into clothes for a 3 minute jaunt to the trash room.

The only place it felt like an issue was BLT, because the closest trash room was on the 5th floor and I was on the 1st. I felt awkward riding up the elevator in my tank top and pajama pants! Cest la vie, nothing bad was showing.

On another topic, I wish all the resorts had more convenient trash rooms. We can't be the only family with at least one kid who isn't potty trained, and you generally don't want to leave certain diapers lying around waiting for your cleaning on the 4th day!

Or a father cheering as two boys raced thier remote controled cars down the long hallways of BWV at about 10 PM.
