What have I forgotten?

So I have checked the Estas which we got last October, they are still showing as all OK, have put information on UA website for each passenger. Sorted ADR and fast passes. Travel insurance in hand, what else do I need to do?
We go 20th October, has anything changed since last year?
Should I check in for the flight online? I didn't last year with Delta but what are the advantages to online check in?
Any advice on indirect flight via Washington with UA?

Suddenly at that point where I am worried I have missed something, just want it all to run smoothly, then I can get excited!!!

yes.
you can confirm your seats and print your boarding passes.
if you go carry on only, you can go straight to security and bypass the check in desk
if you have luggage to check, you get to use a dedicated check in line, and don't need to wait with all the other pax.

Any advice on indirect flight via Washington with UA?

Don't waste time. (don't know if you flew indirect before so I cover the bases)
for example, bathroom breaks before immigration is a bad idea, you'll have all of your fellow passengers stand in line before you
try to seat as close (forward) to the exit of the plane as possible, to try and be among the first to exit

after immigration, collect bags, go through customs, drop bags off right after customs, and proceed to security
once you've been through security, than you can breathe a bit and proceed to your next departure gate.

don't waste time until you're airside again (past security)

Do you have any room requests? If so fax the hotel about 5 days before arriving. Where are you staying?

We went via Atlanta last time, which was very easy, but as you say, we got right to the gate before we thought about relaxing getting a drink etc. Hoping Wahington is as straight forward.

Have done on line check in via MDE for AKL. Only question I have about this, even though I did the on line check in, it still comes up with check in as an option, in fact I think I have done it twice now, I get the congratulations you have checked in message, so hopefully that's all successful.

if you need to change things like room request, pin code, check in time and so on you can do the online check in all over again

each time you redo it, it will replace your previous online check in

that's why, in order to be able to modify your check in information, you will always see the button
