What has the Disney College Program done for you...?

For the individuals who have already completed the program, I would truthfully like to know what the program has done for you.

Has it helped you get hired for a different job?
Has it changed you in positive ways? and if so what ways?
Has it made you feel more comfortable working with guests/customers?

Anything else you want to add feel free to!

The reason my asking is i've always been a very shy person and have always had trouble breaking out of that shell. The only jobs i've ever had have been desk jobs where I've never had to talk to or work with customers. So this Disney program is going to be a completely new experience for me especially since i'll be a park greeter and will constantly be interacting with guests...
I just really hope it can help me out in the future whether it be finding a job or just making me a better person all together. Thanks!

It hasn't helped me get a job yet (probably because I haven't really been applying lol....) but it's introduced me to some of the greatest people I've ever met. Even though I lived on campus every year at college before doing the program (I did it the first semester of my senior year), my school is 10 minutes from my house so this was the first time I've really been on my own which was really important for me. It was the first time I've ever really been away from my family and even though I missed them, it made me realize that if I were to move to a new state to start a new job after graduation that I'll be ok.

After working at Disney, in whatever job I get next, I'm definitely going to use everything I learned about guest service because Disney does it better than anyone. I'm a pretty shy person too and I was fine, even though I had had jobs with guest interaction before Disney but you'll be just fine. It was just an all around amazing experience and I couldn't be more thankful for the opportunity.

1. Yes! It looks great on a resume and gives experience with a Fortune 500 company. I recently just got hired full-time out of college for a real salaried job, and I thank Disney a lot for helping get the experience I needed to build my resume.

2. Yes, I have much more patience. I also have a really fantastic boyfriend out of it. But yeah, patience!

3. Yes, though it did also make me a tinge more cynical. Though it really makes you capable of handling anything!

Good luck! I'm sure you'll break out of your shell once you get down there! The first time a little girl's eyes light up when you give her a roll of stickers as big as she is, the shyness will melt away! :goodvibes
