This may be a dumb question but my family hardly ever flies, we have bought tickets for Oct from Detroit on delta because we found a pretty good deal, and now NWA has an equally good deal from a closer airport without a connection!!!! Am I right in assuming that we just lose all of the money from the Delta tickets if we cancel or do they offer vouchers? Also if by some miracle they do give us a voucher will it be one for the total purchase or will I have vouchers for DH, myself and all 3 kids? It is driving me crazy when I see that NWA has a nonstop flight closer to home with better times :badpc:
I guess I should just stop torturing myself and not look at flights anymore.

Any help with be greatly appreciated :sunny: bgirl

You will get vouchers for the tickets you've already purchased IF you cancel your flights before your scheduled departure. Usually, they will charge you $100 change fee PER ticket, and you use those vouchers towards a future flight. You will receive a voucher for each ticketed passenger to be used ONLY for that passenger. In other words, you can't lump the money you've paid into one large voucher. The vouchers are only good for one year from the date of purchase of the original tickets. If you use the vouchers to purchase new tickets, any funds left over (minus the $100 change fee) will be placed on a new voucher, good for a year from the new ticket purchase date. If you hardly ever fly, it makes no sense.

My advice? Suck it up and stick with the original flights... unless you don't mind losing $500 in change fees and accepting vouchers on Delta that you have to use in under a year.

Good luck!

I agree...unless the new flight is $100 cheaper per person, you will lose money by doing this.
