you book Port Orleans with five people (2 adults, 3 children) and they don't have any trundle bed rooms available at check-in???

They won't let you book the room with 5 if they don't have a room that sleeps 5 available.

I'm not so sure. I mean, a room can go down due to a maintenance issue at the last minute, and it may not be back on line in time to get the guests in. So lets say they have 10 trundle rooms that will be available for check in today, and 10 families coming in. Lets say a pipe bursts between two of the rooms, and there is a lot of water damage. Now there are only 8 trundle rooms and still 10 families coming in. I would assume they would have some way of accommodating the 5th guest if the problem is their problem (maybe an extra trundle or two put away for emergencies??), but I can definitely see where it could happen, even if it isn't likely.

Any reservation at POR with 5 people where all of the people are over age 3 are guaranteed a trundle bed room.

If you checked in and for some bizarre reason that room type was unavailable, they would find you onsite accomodations to fit your party at another resort.

Just please note that all five people's names must be on the reservation, and their ages must be listed as 4 years or older.

Well it kind of did happen to us. We were set to stay at POR and I told them we needed a 1st floor since at the time we had a double and single stroller for the kids. They didn't have any 1st floor AB rooms so they put us in a Mansions room with a rollaway bed.

DH missed the GF too much so we only were actually checked into our room about 2 hours when we went back to GF and switched resorts!

Still, I have heard of it happening before - no AB rooms so they put a rollaway in a Mansions room.

I have heard a few times on these boards that they do put people in Mansions with a rollaway, it is just not something they do unless absolutely necessary. I also think at least a couple times I have read of people getting moved to other resorts. Since I like mansions better than AB, I've contemplated checking in late for just that! :rotfl: but it won't happen as I want to get checked in before am emh and head out. Disney is pretty much full up right now over spring break time so anything could happen I guess! I just go knowing I am happy with what I booked and if something happens/changes I at least know Disney has a history of generally making it happen in a good direction (and yes, I've read the horror stories too but I just said generally).

We got a roll away bed instead of a trundle 2 trips ago. We liked the roll away because it was larger and more comfy. BUT it took up more room. This time we went we got the trundle. It was okay, but not near as big. BUT it did got back under the bed for more room.
