What happens if you have a reservation for 15 and 3 deside not to come?

I am getting ready to make my dining reservations soon. We are suppose to be a party of 15. Is it a problem if only 12 out of the 15 show up for a sit down meal in case someone gets sick or changes their mind on where they are going to eat?

Being such a huge party, I'm not sure if the rules are entirely the same as for a smaller sized party. However, normally, there is no penalty if less people than the ADR is for shows up. There have been some reports that at the credit card guarantee places, a no show fee (usually $10 per person) is charged for the folks that don't come.

A few years back I had ADR for 11 at 50's Prime Time Cafe (my family of 3 and other family of 8). We showed up first and was told to let them know when the rest appeared. About 30 mins later the other family had not shown and we asked if we could wait a little longer and if they didn't show could we be seated as a party of 3. The CM's kindly said yes. They did end up showing but knowing that we could have down graded was comforting. I would imagine they face this issue often. I think your only concern may be if your ADR is one that requires a cancel fee, like Chef Mickey's.

If you have a good reason, there's no problem. I used to work at Akershus, and we would simply just change the numbers of the party at check in so they would get an appropriate table for their reduced party size.
