What happened to the big press release in NY on Oct 18th??

I heard that AKL was added to the vacation clubs on the 11th.

That was the official unofficial announcement caused by leaked info. There are many threads on the DVC boards about it.

I work around the corner from the Palace Theatre and was DYING to get inside. Unfortunately, my charm and dimples did NOT constitute as a FAST PASS into the event.

I thought the release was all about Healthy food for kids! It was all over the news last night and this morning.

My MSN home page has a link to an MSNBC article with a dateline of New York, Oct. 18. The headline is "'Finding Nemo' finds the stage; Disney turning popular animated film into musical." I can't get the link to work, but here's a paragraph that's somewhat illuminating:

"The production marks the first time Disney has made a musical of a non-musical animated film, said Anne Hamburger, executive vice present of Disney Creative Entertainment, who was at Manhattan's Palace Theatre Wednesday where two animated puppets — including Nemo — were presented and composers performed two songs from the musical." It goes on to talk a little about the show: it's going to be set in an underwater world; tap-dancing sharks; bike-riding puppets, etc., and discusses some of the people involved in creating the production.

Could this be all there was to the press event??

It was much ado about nothing. Just more YOAMD stuff, plus heavy on the Nemo promoting. The media guests were invited up on stage for part of the show.

But we are all already aware of everything that was discussed at the event. It was a joint event with representatives of WDW and DL present.

As a member of the broadcast community, let me say that THIS is a MUCH better "event" than most companies host.

Many are of the "To better-serve our community, we are opening a 4-bay truck-wash in Saskatoon" variety.

(Although the folks in Saskatoon WILL be sitting behind cleaner trucks during rush hour.)
