What happened to Ray on ER?

Sorry, I missed the first part of ER tonight and wondering what happened to Ray and why the girl blamed Nelah for it.

I think it was cuz Neela was so back and forth with him, and they fought the night of Abby's wedding, I didn't see that. But he was listening to Neela's voice mail when he got hit by the truck. I also remember he kind of was screwing around with Katie and Neela at the same time, but was more into Neela, which upset Katie.

His legs were amputated.

I saw the promo of him crossing the street and being on his cell. He then had that deer in the headlight look. So I assumed he got hit by something. But I didn't know what was happening leading up to it or afterward. So I was shocked to see him with no legs.

He was drunk and listening to a message from Neela on his cell, which he dropped, and got hit by a Mack truck when he picked it up.

Oh wow! I didn't realize his legs had been amputated. I was only half watching, but I was wondering why Nelah said "We'll get through this," since he seemed to be banged up, but alive.
