What happened to DH?

This is sorta off-topic but I don't have anyone else to vent to with Disney related stuff (people already think I spend too much time going there).

Anyway...we live close by (about 45 minutes away) and we have annual passes. I like to go over quite often with DD(4). Usually DH skips these day trips as he doesn't really get Disney like we do. He always comes along for 2-3 overnight trips per year and that's usually more than enough for him.

Lately he has been wanting to come with us on our day trips. I have mixed feelings about this. On one hand I'm glad he wants to spend the time with us. On the other hand, I miss my mommy time with DD.

Plus...he likes to hurry up and ride everything once and then go home. DD and I like to take our time...try to do or find something new...ride Buzz 3 times in a row if there's no line...say "hi" to some characters...look at the flowers...whatever.

Well this weekend DD and I were planning on a day at DIsney for her birthday. The deal was she gets to pick the park...and what to do there. DH just called to let me know that he would be off on Sunday and wants to come. I hope he won't be miserable doing DD's tour of a park!

I'm wondering if he has caught his own unique kind of the Disney bug (finally).

Ummm, ok.

Can't relate since it's a 24 hour drive from our house. Not everybody just casually floats around WDW whenever they feel like it. Best we have is the little city park down the street.

But good for your DH to finally catch the bug. Or did he just come around to the fact that he wants to simply spend more quality time with dd?

I feel for you! Our trips are completely different when DH comes along. I joke with him that the trips I go on with just me and the 3 kids are easier than when he comes!! I feel like I have to make sure he is having a good time when we go together. When it's just me and the kids, we have our own touring style that works for us.

Plus due to DH's work times, he is on a completely different schedule than us and it clashes with our schedule so that he's tired in the middle of the day, and not at night when we are all ready to drop into bed!

Good luck this Sunday! Just play it up ahead of time like "This is DD's day and we are going to do it at her speed. if she wants to ride Dumbo 8 times, then that is what we are doing" and see what he says!

I know how you feel. My husband's deployed, and as much as we miss him, I am liking the opportunity to take things at my own pace, or at our daughters' own pace. We're going to WDW without daddy, and I'm thrilled to be able to go and take it easy. I'd give up my trip to have him home with us, though.

Like MATTERHORN said, make sure you say things in advance like, "We're going to take it easy, follow DD in whatever it is she wants to do, and not be in a hurry to go home." If he has a problem with that in advance, maybe you should advise him not to go. If he has a problem with executing it at the park, then you should ask him to wait somewhere for you while you do your own thing with DD. If he doesn't want to go on a ride 2 or 3 more times, then he can rest on a bench while the two of you go again. Explain these things in advance and make sure he knows he better not put a damper on your day.
