What happened to customer service

Agree.

And while we're at it:

No, you cannot get a late check-out.

No, you cannot have a complimentary room upgrade.

No, you cannot get your room changed just because you don't like the view.

No, you cannot get daily housekeeping or extra towels (unless you pay for it.)

No, you cannot get "free dining" with a DVC points stay.

Don't expect to be able book any of the "Standard View" or "Value" rooms as a non owner.

DVC "busy seasons" are much different than general resort "busy seasons."

Dining Plan guidelines (and others) apply to millions of resort guests. DVC policies apply to hundreds-of-thousands of members. Don't expect them to alter those rules simply to suit your desires.

Tim, put it all out there, don't keep it in! I always play by the rules, and ask myself, "Why can't everybody else?" Boy I feel better!

...

Well, you might be able to if there's availability. But you'll have to pay for extra housekeeping or extra points. :flower3:

Knaughty - PLEASE sell your DVC interest. I don't want to find myself standing beside you at the concierge desk.

I sorry some of you feel that way about the dinning plan and that you have all been getting ripped off for years but in my experience there is no such thing as can't especially for something like that ,and it wasn't explained to me when I purchased it either.
I'm wondering how much one has to whine to get this "benefit".

As for the 7 month window I do understand it's a rule but it is also not impossible to do and if it takes all of a minute or so to take a quick look and just say yes there is some availability there, then do it but I guess since I haven' owned as long as some of you I have higher expectations, more time is wasted for the multiple phone calls to check availability.
As at least 2 others have said, it is unlikely you will be happy with DVC, you may want to consider moving on.

Well, we did. Because AKJambo caused a problem and DH did not feel it was right for us to be homeless while they got the next room ready. Turns out...it was a mistake to ask for that, because we had to stay at the resort waiting for the phone call so we could move as quick as possible...would have been better to be "homeless" and be able to get out and enjoy ourselves. But the point is, we got it after a manager finally actually had the situation *explained* to her...

But we know it's definitely outside of policy, and only given to us b/c of the problem.

...they should allow me to buy the ddp for as many days as I want during my stay.

Once again the bellhops wouldn't hold the luggage either, which has never been a problem in the past hell I have had luggage shipped from one resort to another on this particular day it was not being done.

Now they do allow DVC members to do that with the plan. But 4 months ago they did not. And it's not being ripped off to have you follow the rules.

What did Bell Services say when you wanted them to hold the luggage? That's confusing, since we had a very split stay, and they held the luggage whenever we needed it.

(As for those of you hoping On Line Booking will help.. you do realize that Disney's IT shop will be responsible for this product? I hope you are expecting much. Generally they don't believe in testing and just assume "pixie dust" will make us happy. So Tinkerbell will fly and fly and fly and fly on your screen with no real activity..../.while those of us who have learned NEVER trust Disney's IT shop call and take the rooms LOL!)

While I agree Disney IT isn't the greatest at times, everything discussed in this thread works exactly as it was designed. Disney never intended for dining plan credits to be extended over a split stay or for DVC members to check 7 month availability prior to that window.

These aren't examples of bad tech--it's just OP not liking Disney policies.

If they moved your meals from one reservation to the next, you got GREAT customer service. That's completely not in their policy and I've NEVER read of it happening before, and you can see how long I've been here and how often I post (which means I'm reading TONS of threads), and this is the first time I've heard of it happening.

Well it is not great customer service when I had to take two hours out of my honeymoon to acomplish it and it was just a matter of making a note in the computer to return the credits once I started using them on the 2nd reservation, as for the bell hops they wouldn't even hold the bags for us to get back we weren't trying to get out of a tip but it sucks to feel that you spent all this money and your not getting the same service.

I am not a pain I read reviews and take them all with a grain of salt but it is the lack of thinking at all out of the box, that I dislike so much. I am not saying they were rude at the desk but they were just more concerned that I wanted a refund that they could get their heads around that I just wanted access to the credits I payed for if at the end of the week I didn't use them fine by me but I shouldn't lose them because I am changing rooms.

As for with the tax forms they were just being rude.

I did call back and ask for them to check earler dates at the other resorts and that worked but why couldn't lady take some inititive and do it.

Okay... I'm not sure I know how to read the "sentence" I highlighted above....Too long...Too little punctuation.

I suspect your screen name (knaughty) and the fact that you have 4 total posts (all on this thread) may be saying it all for you. I'm sure this post has lead to some great discussion, but a naughty troll is responsible for it.

So, did you use all those food credits you were able to obtain? I could think of better use of my honeymoon time than to spend it arguing for food credits. I picture a suitcase full of take out containers and snacks on the plane going home. Whatever floats your boat.:confused3

Now I no longer feel sorry for the OP.

Anyone with an attitude that rules are not meant for them deserves my wrath and loathing.

To all who yell and carry on to minimum wage employees.....

To all who try to get comped food after they have eaten it......

To all who get upset when they aren't upgraded for free.......

To all who expect to be treated different from others......

To all with a false sense of self worth.......

To all who send one member of your party to hold your spot in line........

........I say: get a life, stop griping and whining, stop thinking you are more deserving, stop being selfish and follow the rules!

Love, love, love your thinking! Thank you.

I can't believe you actually call people trolls on this website, that is just rude if you don't agree with something that's fine but like children you are calling names.

This is a place for magical wishes, I wished to keep my dinning credits, I have been waiting to buy DVC membership for years and specifically the BLT, and though these were all different instances it has been the overall experience that has disappointed me. My next trip is booked for October so hopefull these were one time problems.

I wish to ride Toy Story Mania 20 times in a row with no waits. Think that is going to happen?

Do you truly not recognize that Disney Cast Members cannot afford to spend the day reacting to tens-of-thousands of guests who each expect them to break rules and override standard operating procedure on a whim?

Knaughty--I think you were very lucky the moved your dining credits for you.

My DD was in the hospital for 2 days on our last trip, family of four, all on Deluxe Dining Plan. We ate out 3 times the entire week. On the last night, we traded in over 20 (or was it 30?) deluxe dining credits for 6 boxes of cookies since they were all expiring as credits.

Before we left for the airport we spent the day in MK with no dining credits and ate turkey legs for $8.

In comparison, I actually don't think you did too badly at all :thumbsup2

Those cookies are in my freezer and everytime I look at them I realize that they "cost" me $800 in dining :rotfl2:

If you're hoping these were "one time problems," you are going to continue to be disappointed. Your expectations are not in line with reality. Until you come to a better understanding of how things are supposed to work, and resign yourself to working within those rules, you are not going to be happy. If you can't work within the rules, you should sell.

I'm wondering just how loud and long one has to "wish" to get such benefits. It seems to me your overall disappointment is more likely due to unreasonable expectations and lack of understanding of the system you've put your money into rather than a problem with the system itself. I don't think that's uncommon for new members so hopefully you will learn the system and more reasonable expectations and settle in. If not, you'll likely never be happy with DVC and the compromises that constitute the core of timeshares.

I'm wondering if you understand the connotation of a troll as it applies to the internet. However, I don't think you're a troll but I do understand where some would because you registered new (? second account) and posted things that many of us feel are unreasonable expectations and many wondered if you did it just to stir up trouble.

Dean explained the definition of "troll" so hopefully that brings some understanding of the term to you. That being said, turning around to call posters "children" should be considered no different in your eyes.. When you post on an internet discussion board, there will be varying opinions put out there that may very well (as in this case) have the majority disagreeing with your stance.

As explained above, the DDP rules and guidelines are not set forth by DVC, but by Disney Resorts. You should not expect the exception to having credits retained again. That was against the norm.

What "problems" are you expecting for October? You are not being clear with what your actual expectation of DVC is.

I have found the service at DVC great, it's not perfect but when things do go wrong they are pretty good at sorting it out.

I wishing I could say the same for other companies..........

Disney is a business. First and foremost. They have a legal fiduciary responsibility to their shareholders. If you believe Disney to be a place for magical wishes, you need to get out of DVC right now, you are going to find that the "magic" portion of owning a Disney timeshare - on Disney's part - takes a backseat to the "business" portion.

That doesn't mean that DVC cannot be a good deal. But I think that you are destined to be disappointed by rooms that are worn, buses that don't appear on command, availability issues, room views that are less than ideal, and policy and perk changes that are disappointing. You are really setting yourself up for the last one - lets see, there was the point reallocation, the offering of dining to cash guests but not DVC (a year later DVC got it), stopping pool hopping to SAB, cessation of valet parking, restrictions on points usage for resale, cruises being booked up for more than a year......I'm sure people can come up with other DVC changes in the past year that have disappointed some.

You have bought into a system that is controlled by a management team, in which the members have little say in the changes. You have probably invested a tidy five figures into people who can - and will - jerk you around and have very little interest in delighting you - after all, you've already invested - you are stuck.

Ok, I have to ask.... really?? You really think that because you "wished" to use your dining plan credits after they had expired that Disney was obligated to make it happen for you because you are a DVC member? If this is a typical expectation for you, I have a feeling you are going to be very disappointed with your DVC purchase.

The level of self entitlement by the OP is just blowing my mind. You weren't feeling well, so Disney was supposed feed you for a second reservation for free. If you were sick and missed the flight, I guess you would have gotten your money back. Where is the accountability on your part? Yes, I was caught in the trolling net, and had to put in my $0.2.
