What happened at AK Sunday???

We were at the AK this past Saturday and it was very crowded. Filled to capacity on Sunday, I would like to hear more details on this.

I can't remember where I heard about it. I think mouseplanet. At least I'm not the only one who knew about it. Strange....

I just checked mouseplanet...it's not there in the weekly WDW park update.

I read it on another board. It happened around 1:15pm and the gates were only closed for a short time before they re-opened for admission.

Was there something this past weekend for DVC?
We were at Epcot Saturday evening (and it was also very crowded, but to be expected this time of year). Many guests were wearing DVC stickers. I don't know if guests were just getting them at the DVC sales booth and wearing them, or if there was a DVC holiday event.
I think a lot of CMs were in the parks this last weekend too. (Along with everyone else. )

Wow! Up to 70% savings on future lodging costs AND free stickers? Those DVC sales booths are wonderful (and ubiquitous)!

I saw it mentioned on the WDWMagic boards - apparently Disney underestimated crowd levels for the day and had to close for a few hours to get more vendor carts and ride lines open.

I'd certainly believe it. We were there on Sunday and we left around 3 because we had had enough of the crowds and that was day 10 of our trip so we were just at our end anyway. We had a few days there, the AK on Sunday and MK on the 9th as well as the MVMCP on the 15th that were crowds that were off the charts. I didn't think AK was as bad as MK though. But it wasn't good as the morning went on. As for what was going on? I couldn't tell ya. Nothing looked out of the ordinary in that I didn't see any huge masses of people dressed similarly like they were in a large group or anything.
