What happen when it rains, like ALOT, in the parks?

We are here now and Wednesday and Thursday seem to be bad weather. Like buckets of rain. We are going to HS Wednesday and MK Thurs. will everything still be going on (inside obviously)??
We don't have park hopper and have a dining ressie in the park Wednesday.
Thank you for any help!!!

The park keeps going. Rides/shows that are outside and subject to the elements will be shut down and will reopen once the storm has passed. Everything that's inside a building will still be running as normal. Table service dining will still be open and running as normal. We've had reservations where it was raining so much that the entrance to the magic kingdom was flooded up past our ankles, but we still were able to trudge in through the water and get to the Crystal Palace or Be Our Guest. If you're wanting to cancel your dining reservation, make sure you do it 24 hours in advance or you could be subject to the $10 per person no show fee if you decide not to go because of weather.

In torrential downpours and in weather that is deemed unsafe, guests get directed into restaurants and attractions with large open spaces to protect them from the elements.

Crystal Palace and Laugh Factory have been used to shelter guests when necessary.

Plan for your shoes to get wet, bring extra socks or wear none. Both those parks have deep water areas when it rains.

Put your poncho on, carry dry socks and walk as fast as you can!

Tomorrowland is the best place to be in the rain, besides the main street shops. More indoor spaces.

DHS isn't bad as most things are inside. EP is our preferred rain park as you can spend time inside in the FW attractions. My DS8 could spend 2 hours in Living Seas alone! MK is a tough one as most attractions are outside. Tomorrowland will be your best bet as most things (except the Speedway) are inside. Can you adjust your touring plans and go to EP on your MK day instead?

Can you switch a day like Tuesday for the MK? That's the park you want the best weather to get the most out of.

Here are some rainy day recommendations for both parks:

DHS
Book ADRs for both of your meals (You can spend the most time at Sci-Fi Dine In or Hollywood Brown Derby)
The Great Movie Ride (nice indoor queue and entire ride lasts 20+ minutes all indoors)
Gift Shops on Hollywood Blvd (they are all connected on the inside so you can go from shop to shop without going outside)
Club Disney on Sunset Blvd (new indoor DJ dance party located next to RnRC, great place to dry out and dance while your at it!)

MKP
Book ADRs for both of your meals
The Emporium Gift Shops on Main Street (all connected from the inside from one end of Main Street to the other all indoors)
Carousel of Progress (entire show lasts 20+ minutes in a seated indoor theater)
TTA Peoplemover (part of the ride is outdoors but you are covered from the rain)
Philharmagic (entire show plus the pre-show lasts 20+ minutes all indoors)
The Hall of Presidents (entire show lasts 20+ minutes plus the pre-show lobby is indoors and you can arrive as early as you want)
Indoor Rides with Indoor Queues (POTC, HM, Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, etc.)

Hope this helps! Good luck! :)

wear shorts if possible - ponchos do not cover your legs and wet jeans are not fun. We have been at DHS when it was bucketing rain at opening - we rode TSM 8 times in a row - got off walked around waited less than 5 minutes got back on to ride again - then DH and DD wimped out with 'sore arms'. Literally we loved the rain as it scared everyone away!

Thank you! We are going to try and make the best of it.
This is our 5th trip and this will be our first really rain more then 20mins once. So I guess it had to catch up to us eventually

The parks can really clear out when rain is that bad, so it CAN be really nice if you're able to stay relatively dry. If you don't mind using a poncho AND an umbrella, that works wonders. While I know it's risky, I also remove my shoes outside in the rain. Disney is pretty clean and free of glass on the ground so I feel safer not wearing shoes than wearing them. I've had sandals literally fall apart after getting a soaking and also almost killed myself from slipping in the wet sandals.

Disney offers so much to do indoors that the rain really doesn't deter us. Some attractions that really stick out in my mind are Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor, Carousel of Progress, any stores in World Showcase, the various shows at DHS, and the list goes on.

Try not to let the rain ruin your trip. Remember, a rainy day at Disney is better than a day at work!

Love this! That is what I hope for actually. I knew it was going to be tough to fill a full day in just HS anyway! We are with our 2 year old son so not a ton for him. Planning for all the shows anyway.

Do you think this will still have character meets? Specifically woody and buzz and then mike and sulley? I know the actual meet is inside or under something but how do the characters actually get there with out being ruined?

DHS will continue Buzz and Woody since they are indoors. Mike and Sulley are a definite no if there's lightning. They'd probably be there for light rain, not sure about a downpour.

I'm at MK on thursday and packing. Much to my surprise, the rain cover for the stroller is missing!!! Aaargh! I guess I know what I'll be doing before we leave tomorrow.

Wear ponchos and sandals and keep going. Nothing you can do about the weather. If you feel it is necessary bring an extra change of clothes for each person in a back pack or two and store them in a locker. This way if you get soaked you can always change at the park and not have to go back to your hotel. If it is lightning stay indoors until you can safely move. Have fun.

I only got caught in one serious downpour, and being British, rain doesn't stop play, so I put on my pack-a-mack (don't know if they're called the same thing in the USA- but a lightweight raincoat that folds down into a small pocket or pouch) and carried on. I decided to join the queue for It's a Small World (it was packed) only to find it wasn't a queue of people waiting, it was people sheltering in the covered queuing area and the ride itself was a walk on. By the time I was off the happiest cruise ever, the rain had gone! My shorts were a bit damp, but they soon dried off!

(I bought a new pack-a-mack for my trip this time... it's got an Olaf pattern on it... I'm going to be the coolest 30 year old there!! ;) )
