What "groceries" do you take on an airplane?

You can also try the gift shops at the nearest resort with DVC villas (either AKL or BWI) They usually carry sandwich meats, bread, chips, microwave dinners, donuts, things of that nature. You'll end up paying about the same if you went to a mini mart.

We take our duel travel coffeemaker. Waterbottles in gallon ziplocks (no problems) Liquor in plastic pop or water bottles, granola, cereal, pop tarts, snacks. We used to bring more but last year we were able to get a car at the Dolphin (alamo) cheap. And ran to Target and got the things we needed.

I have heard the same thing about peanut butter requiring the bag to be inspected. I wonder if the same is for Nutella. I'm guessing so, in which case I guess we will be using a delivery service.

It will be the same for Nutella. We had the spreadable cheeses from Swiss Colony. They were under the 3oz, but they still had to fit in the quart size bag and be removed from the suitcase.

i am another one who has pack a complete suitcase full of snacks. last april we went for 10 days and had everything we needed in the suitcase as far as breakfast and snacks go. i ordered gatorade, pop, orange juice and water from garden grocer and it worked out great. will do this from now on. saved us a ton of money from buying breakfast in the morning. we have 2 boys aged 16 and 18 and they can eat.

oh and the suitcase comes in handy when going back home if not for things you have bought it's great for seperating clean and dirty laundry.

Don't rent car, stay on property, rent villa, cook all our meals in the villa, don't do any sort of meal plan.
UPS down non perishables from pantry 3 days ahead of arrival. 2 weeks ahead, order perishables from garden grocer for delivery on arrival day. Happy Limo will make a stop for you as part of their service. We use them and make a stop at Albertsons where we purchase lunch meats, wine and anything else we may have forgotten.
So on day one, I unload the contents of preshipment, grocery delivery and store stop and we are set for the entire week. Whatever we haven't opened, we also ship home along with any souvineers that can't fit into our luggage.

I have packed a jar of peanut butter and squeezable jelly (they did go in my suitcase at airport security, found a note in my bag which I think was b/c of the jelly), oatmeal, granola bars, fruit snacks, fruit rollups, goldfish, ezmac if you had a microwave, trail mix. I ended up buying bread at the resort for the pb&j. Basically I think any non-perishables will be ok in the suitcase. They may search it like they did mine, but I think it was cheaper than using a service and I had it for snacks if we needed any before leaving. Good luck!

As many PP's stated, including myself, it is the peanut butter - because it is so dense and the machine cannot see through it.

It wouldn't have the same problem with the jelly.

We are big on bringing snacks and breakfast items too. I did bring a case of water which I divided up between all the checked bags, but that's really a pain- so I would love more information on HESS in DTD- as far a prices etc. I don't want to pay $12 delivery fee + tip for a case of water. We are staying at POR so DTD is only a boat ride away. For those of you bringing peanut butter, DO NOT take it with you on your carry on. I had a jar of unopened peanut butter, and I had to throw it away at check in. So- we had bread and jelly- no peanut butter! :)

We have had free dining the past few trips, so we didn't need much extra food. I packed a few breakfast items in my carryon. I had heard about buying water at Hess on these boards. I can't remember the exact price. I would say around $7.00 for a 24 pack...maybe not even that much. I have my teenage son & my husband to carry it so it was not a problem for us. You do have to walk across a busy street to get to the store, but there is a stoplight there. Just make sure you have someone who is willing to carry it for you. :goodvibes
