i have heard reports of coconut races, hula lessons, flower lei's for the kids, view's of fireworks, etc. but can't find any official report of such things. even disney dining, acts like i'm crazy when i ask about these things and they never balked at anything before. can i get some eye witness reports? what goes on there? i would like to go with my daughter if there are activities, otherwise, grilled meat isn't a real draw for her, ya know?

We've eaten there several times and my girls have always loved it! When you enter the restaurant there's a Hawaiian entertainer playing a ukelalee (sp?) and talking with a headset. One time it was a lady and the last time was a man. They were both lots of fun! We did hula lessons, coconut races and were given leis at check-in. This past February we had a table by the window and watched the electrical water pageant go by! It was awesome and the food is always delish! You're not crazy either! Ohana is one of our absolute favorite places to eat for dinner as well as breakfast actually! :goodvibes

thank you! it's as if disney wants to keep all of that a secret. interesting!

Sounds fun! It sounds like a Hawaiian version of the Whispering Canyon! Between this and the bread pudding raves we are going to have to go!!

Wow I have to start reading more boards...bread pudding I am so there!!

Ohana was one of our absolute favorites!! The kids loved it and the food is fantastic! We had a ukelele player and he did the coconut races with the kids. He also had them do the limbo and they did some sort of parade with shakers (maracas?) around the room. It was a lot of fun!! We will definitely be putting this on our must do list!

Oh man! I am hungry after looking at those pictures!! Yum! Thanks for posting them! I am so there next time we go!

Our first time there, we got a seat by the window and were able to watch the fireworks right from our table. Ohana is a must-do ever since!

On our last trip, we had dinner slightly earlier and watched the fireworks from the pier out beyond the beach.

As far as activities - whenever we're there, they have someone playing music and getting the kids involved in a parade, playing instruments, etc. (We don't have any kids, so I don't always pay super strict attention to all the activities.)

I always like getting the Lapu Lapu drink - a yummy alcoholic concoction served in a pineapple!

Ohana dinner is a favorite of ours. Activities that have occurred when we have been there: we have been given leis, there has been a limbo contest & hula lessons.

We ate there last week and were very dissapointed in the 'entertainment'. A very nice lady tried to entertain us but was not very good, especially with the kids. We were spoiled by the Polynesian gentleman who played the Uke the last couple of years but it appears he is no longer there. he was excellent, sang and p[layed and really entertained. We heard that he was let go in a cost saving measure.very dissapointing, he made Ohana a very nice experience for us. Not so much anymore.

Tara,

Glad to see you got the feedback you wanted on Ohana. Excited to see your plans getting finalized---I need something to tide me over until our trip in December!! Hope you and Tim have a great dinner and enjoy your trip!

Andrea (at RS in Princeton) ;)

I have been dying to hear specifics about the entertainment and the food(great pics--now I'm starving!popcorn::) and everything sounds and looks fantastic.:goodvibes I can't wait to book this for our next trip.:thumbsup2 My kids would love all the antics:banana: and food--potstickers are their favorite!

hey andrea,
finally direct communication! thanks for all of your suggestions! it's nice to get input from someone who knows the parks so well and is apparently just as crazy as i am! (when it comes to planning) tim teases me, but he will later admit that the trip was better for all of my schemes. thanks!
