What floor do OKW Grand Villas start on?

I have a grand villa for my Sept trip to OKW. I recently bought my mom a mobility scooter. While she doesn't need a handicapped room, I'd like for the scooter to be able to come inside without having to leave it in our vehicle or tote it up stairs. I've heard that some of the buildings have elevaters but in our trips, I've never stayed in one... granted, I've never stayed in a grand villa either.

Can anyone help?

Thanks! Cheryl

62, 63, 64 have elevators - there is only one building (I think) that has a GV on the first floor - it might be handicapped - so I am not sure if you want it.

the other building GV starts on the second floor.

I have never stayed in a grand villa either, but someone can correct me if I am wrong. I thought the grand villas took up both floors, 2 story villa. With entrances on both floors.

someone posted while i typed, I guess I was wrong anyway.

I knew there was definately 1 GV that was on the 1st floor for handicapped but we're not interested in taking one that may be needed by others when it's not "necessary" for us. But if we end up in a bldg that has an elevator, that would be great. I'll have to check and see if there are any GV's in those bldgs.

Thanks for your help,
Cheryl

Building 48 has one GV with ground floor access. All other GV's access from the second floor and all are two floors (BWV is the only DVC resort with a single floor GV). Building 63 does have elevator access to the entrance to the GV.

The GV's at SSR all have elevator access- even to the second floor of the villa.

we just got back last weekend from OKW in the grand villa.....we were in 1623 and it was awesome........in the 16 building they all start on 2 and go to third floor.........we booked one night before we went so i took what we could get.............but it was nice........we had a ton of points to blow so this was a good way to blow 240 in a weekend.............we still have to go through over 650 by January...........so we may do the weekend thing again..........but the grand villa is the bomb!!!!

Yep, love those GVs! Our next trip is in a GV. It is great for large groups.

How many max can fit in a GV? Average cost per night? Is it ever discounted? Any info would be great.

The GV's "officially" sleep a maximum of 12. That's 3 bedrooms with 5 beds, total, and a sleeper sofa in the living room.

There's a bathroom for each bedroom, and a spare bathroom in the living room in the GV's at OKW. (shower, no tub)

You can check this site's point chart to determine the "point cost" for when you may wish to travel, or check the rack rates on Disney's site.

Beach Club Villas and the Villas at Wilderness Lodge do "not" have GV's - all the other DVC's "do."

They are the ultimate in luxury! Hope this helps...

Unfortuneately I am not a DVC member so I would be paying cash. I will look into it. Is there ever a code in April or Novemeber-AP or such? I am a teacher and can only travel school vacations. Thanks again

WDW does not generally let the GV go for a discount - you best bid would be to rent points from a DVC member and go that way.

I was able to get a GV with a member discount (25%) for NYE this year. The point cost with the weekend was about 160 and the cash cost is $1075 with discount.

I thought that there were two wheelchair accessible ground floor GVs at OKW. I would have sworn that we were in one in building 47. But then again, I guess it could have been building 48.

Are you certain that there's only one?

Building 47 has no GV's.

Buildings 48 and 49 both have GV's but only 48 has a GV with ground floor access. None of the OKW GV's have access to the upper floor- all are internally accessed by the stairs.

Thank you all for the help. I gave in while at work (couldn't check my email) and called OKW. The CM told me that bldgs that have GV's in them all have elevators. I didn't know this but I hope she's right because that solves all my problems.

Thank you, each and every one, for your help!

That CM either misunderstood or didn't know and gave a wrong answer. There are only three buildings at OKW with elevators (62, 63, 64) and, of those, only 63 has any GV's.

None of the other OKW buildings have elevators and all of the other GV's (except for ONE in building 48 with ground floor access) are entered from the second floor of the building.

If you require an accessible GV (either by elevator or from the ground floor) be sure to specifically request that.

Enjoy!
