What film speed do you use at Disney?

We are taking down our 35 mm cannon and I was trying to decide what film to buy for our upcoming trip :goodvibes . Seems like there are alot more options on the shelf now which is confusing for us techno-challenged :confused3.

Do you play it safe and bring the old reliable 200 film? Or have you found some better options? We're not the type to use different film for different lighting but we would like to get some good shots of our golfing adventures.

thanks for any advice!

It's been a while since I used film, but I usually used ISO 400. It's a good balance, I feel, between indoor and outdoor speeds.

I usually use 400 and/or 800, but the next time I go (?) I'm taking at least one roll of the Kodak Professional 400. :)

Film? What is this thing you humans call film? :rotfl:

I used to take 400s, a few 800s and a B/W.

I was going to say the same thing. :teeth: I don't think I even own a 35mm anymore.

Recalling back, I used to buy 400. :)

:rolleyes1 Film! I thought only professionals still used that stuff.

Maybe you should to go a camera store that knows about old cameras and find out what type of film to buy.

Goodluck

Before I got a digital we used nothing lower than 400. I wouldnt recommend lower speed.

I use a 35mm (and I LOVE it!) and I bring 400 and 800 speed with me to WDW. In fact I buy the Professional 400 speed too for Disney. The Professional 400 turns out some incredible pictures!

I still use my 35 mm too. I usually use 400 (and occasionally 800 for evening). I've even been known to take a disposable camera or two.

No complaints about my pictures. :)

I still use my 35mm and I just bought a 5 pack of kodak 400 speed max versatility. I have nice digital camera but it tends to sit on the shelf. I just like my 35mm better. Of couse we just got a dvd player this year so I guess I'm just old school. I still remember my 1st 8 track

I use 400 speed.

I'm too chicken to just bring my digital with me. I'm paranoid that my "action" shots won't come out. I use my digital for every day stuff and will bring it for character meals, but otherwise, it's going to be all about the 35mm. Too much is riding on the pics ;)

OK now I'm really feeling old! Thank you for the tips. I'm going to try the Kodak 400 professional and see how we do.

We're still trying to figure out the Sony digital recorder we got for Christmas. And yes, I can recall the 8 track days and playing my 3 Dog Night tapes constantly! :flower:

I prefer the quality of the photos with 35 mm film over digitals still. My sister says she's "embarassed" that I still use 35mm! LOL Anyway, I never use 200 speed, only 400 or 800, I'm not good enough at holding the camera still! (It's the arthritis in my hands that causes that problem.) We got some great shots of Fantasmic with the 800 speed.

My boss showed me some pics that he took with his digital that were pretty close to 35mm quality, so I guess it won't be long until sis can be proud of me again.

Will pictures taken at night turn out with 400 speed film?

Not without a flash. I would say you would probably need at least 1000 speed to even attempt a picture at night without a flash.

Keep in mind, I'm not a professional photographer, and it's been years since I've had to worry about film speeds.

We always used 400 sp, and I take my 35mm camera AND the digital to WDW.....dropped one in the pool last year when my ds went underwater, glad I had both!

Anyway, make sure you take plenty of film, it was outrageous in the parks!

film what the heck is that. I haven't bought film in years ha ha :rotfl:

We used disposables for ALL of our pictures last time and they turned out fine. I bought them with 400 film. We brought our 35mm camera but I was worried that it would get lost, wet, or broken. Better to bring a disposable with an address label on it. It is more likely to be turned in than a "real" camera.

If you are flying you need to know that 800 speed will be ruined by the scanners so you must request to have it hand checked. I just couldn't be bothered to have anything hand checked because you never know what the delay will be. It is getting tougher to find disposables loaded with 400 film so I have been stocking up when I see them for a good price.

The new disposables are getting quite fancy - 800 speed film and a flash up to 20 feet on some of them! I have no clue about picture quality with those, though.

If you're planning to enlarge your photos, you might want to go with 400 speed film. Your enlargements will be clearer with a lower speed film. You can also buy bags from a camera store that keep your film protected through xray machines. They'll still want to look in the bag, but if it goes through in your suitcase it'll be protected. They aren't very expensive.

Well then it's quite obvious you're driving because there's no way TSA is going to let you on an airplane with a cannon. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
