My family (not dh or kids) and in laws think we are completely over the top when it comes to Disney. They think we are taking it too far. What do you think?

I was always a Disney fanatic growing up even though I'd never gone to Disney World. I met my husband and he was the same way. For years Almost everything our children wore had a Disney Character on it. Still today they wear alot of Disney and almost all my t-shirts are from the Disney Store. My one year old's room is Mickey themed. Wall Boarder, Bedding, stenciled mickeys on everything, Mickey Lamp, the Mickey tv and dvd/vcr. Giant stuffed Mickey and Minnie and many other smaller stuffed Disney characters. Oh even his head board and night stand are from Disney with Mickey head cutouts. The room my two girls share (ages 12 and8) is lime green and hot pink and all accents and accessories are tinker bell stuff.
My bathroom is all American Mickey stuff from the shower curtain, to all the accessories complete with Mickey hands towel bar and towels. My kitchen is primarily grapes, but I had some sketches done of Chef Mickey and Mickey in a vineyard and framed. I also have several complete sets of Mickey wine and cocktail glasses in the wine glass rack. Look in my collection of cookbooks and you'll find two Disney cookbooks there. Throughout the dining room and living room you will find many momentos and other Disney things that we have bought or been given through the past 13 years. As well as our Family photos with the mouse himself.
We went to Disney World for the first time in 2002, made another trip in 2004, and just join DVC and plan to go again this year and for the next 50 years. In anticipation of these trips I bought all of us personalized Mickey Beach Towels and two sets of Mickey luggage.
That's not going too far is it??

I didn't think so either !!!LOL :earsboy:

Anything short of reconstructive surgery to resemble Disney characters is normal in my book. (You didn't do that, right?)

:rotfl: Why did Michael Jackson just pop into my head?

Fun2bmomof3, I don't think you'll find many posters here believing you've gone too far. Our blood cells are shaped like Classic Mickeys.

Actually, there are probably about 100,000+ people who would qualify as more freakish Disney Fans than yourself.....Not to worry, you are merely in the first stages of the disease! ;)

You sound perfectly normal to me! I don't think you'll find too many people on this board that will disagree with me either. :)

:rotfl: I think a poll is in order - which Disney character does MJ most resemble? Oh greenban....

That's easy....URSULA

I don't like seeing so much Disney at WalMart. Before you know it they'll have Disney toilet cleaner.

Otherwise I believe in total "life, liberty and the pursuit of Disney." Would a constitutional amendment be too much?

I'm not a diehard Disney fans like many of the members of this board but I don't think that you have gone too far. Everybody has different tastes and yours runs toward Disney. It's a better taste than some people and it certainly is wholesome and cheery. I have a friend whose wife love Coke so their kitchen is set up with Coca-Cola wall paper, dishes, cups, etc, are Coca-Cola-based, again, there is no harm in this. I have another friend who is into sailing ships and his place is totally set up in a nautical arrangement. The point here is that people do things that they enjoy. You like Disney; Great!

My mother feels teh same way she thinks we should keep an open mind and travel to other locations ratehr than just Disney. She would like us to trade out to Aruba then accompany us to show us around as she has been there. My guess it is more a ploy by her to get free accomodations there actually. My in laws are all as crazy as my DW and I are and only her sister isn't a DVC memeber but ashe is trying to convince her DH to join LOL. Our Livingroom is all decorated in WDW pictures and posters etc and our bathroom is all done in Finding Nemo right down to the Disney paint and wall decorations.

Hey- I always feel like a big Disney freak until I hang out at WDW for a while. I never fail to meet many others more fanatical than I am!
On our last trip I met a man at OKW who had a huge Sorcerer Mickey Fantasmic scene tatooed on one arm, and a scene from the Lion King on the other.
SO___The next time your family says you are Disney Crazy, tell them you are getting some Disney tatoos. Anything you do short of that will seem mild by : comparison! :rotfl2: ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

There's a guy with WAY more tatoos than that... i've seen him...

i love WDW and Disney - that's why we bought DVC... but you know what? I think I like OKW more.....................

oh, and splash mountain, and teacups, and princesses, and cutlery and drawer pulls.... and tea towels... and desert plates..

shoot.

MORE Disney tatoos? Is this guy a regular at OKW?

I also love the DVC resorts so much that I would stay at them without going to the parks. Wilderness Lodge peace and quiet by the lake, OKW sitting on the veranda with the ceiling fan making a cooling breeze, looking at the ocean at Vero....ahhhhh

ME TOO! I think that is why I am soooo obsessed with DW though....I always WANTED so badly to go as a kid......so when I got married (1995), I drug DH with me our 1st summer together. We brought the kids back in 2003.....they now are obsessed too so we are looking into the DVC and planning a trip for 2006!
:teeth:
