What exactly is the thermostat issue at BCV all about?

I am laughing at the "cold" comments because we never got the A/C to come on. We were boiling. I never thought to complain, but now I will. Something is definatley wrong when we have to make choices on our DVC vacation resort based on the THERMOSTAT settings dictated by Disney.

If I have the same problem regulating the temp on my upcoming trip I plan on calling Maintenance. I agree with the previous poster, if Disney doesn't get feedback that people are not happy with the temps in the room due to these new thermostats, nothing will be done to fix it.. I am all for saving on the electric bill, but not at the expense of my comfort.

This sounds like Disney re-hired the same outfit that put the inferior siding on at BWV that caused all the renovations.

Maybe they had some cheap (inferior) AC units to get rid of and Disney thought it would save us some money so the hired THE OUTFIT again to install them.

I agree that if you stay there and have trouble and don't let them know then don't complain. I'm not being harsh, but we have to get this problem fixed. We were going to stay there but when we heard about these problems we decided NO way there are a lot of other places to stay on site.

I really don't understand how Disney could not know of this problem and try to fix it before summer sets in.;) ;) ;) ;)

Just glad we bought at BWV and not the new BCV
almost bought BCV (wow that was close)

You can set the temp at whatever you want to set it at. The problem is that if the sensor doesn't detect someone in the room, the air (summer) or heat (winter) will turn off to save money.

So, if we're peacefully sleeping, the temperature we set is ignored until we are no longer sleeping peacefully, but freezing or frying? Do they think that we aren't using the room when we're sleeping? Do we have to experience this personally before we can register a complaint?

I think the air comes on at a default temp, even if there is no heat/motion. I have read that it is about 76 degrees.
If this is true, I think you would pretty much have to sleep motionless for the temp to even get to 76. It doesn't sound like a huge problem for me. I understand why others may be upset...

Not certain what the default temperature is, but I can say that when we experienced " Big Brother" thermostat in early Oct., normal tossing and turning in the bed had absolutely no effect. In fact, I got up once and in a mass of dripping sweat, went to the thermostat and found it pushing 80 degrees. I had it set at 70 degrees---
Of course, these room thermostats could be several degrees off the real temperature , but one thing is sure--when you're hot, you're hot!! And when you're not-you're not!!
