I was looking at the May calendar for our days to see what time the parades, fantasmic, and fireworks are scheduled. I noticed something about Jedi Academy or training or something. What exactly is this? I know it has to do with Star Wars. Is this an everyday occurance at DL or is like Star Wars week at WDW during the summer? It will be me and my DH and I was wondering if this is something we should see or if it is mainly for kids? We're not Star War buffs by any standards, but the I'm kind of interested in this since it's at DL and I want to experience all I can while I'm there. We even watched the HSM Pep Rally at WDW and yes it was fun! :) So for all of you who have seen and done this, I would love if you could tell me about it and what I should expect. TIA

Basically, they have a Master Jedi who asks for young Padewans to train to fight Darth Vader and Darth Maul. They pick several kids from the audience to participate and they each get to train and then fight either Vader or Maul.

It's a cute show, and fun to just watch even if you don't have a kid who is participating. If you really want to see what it's all about, I'd suggest looking for it on youtube.

Youtube...I hadn't even thought of that. Great idea, thanks. So this is bascially like Capt. Jack Sparrow's Pirate Tutorial isn't it but Jedi themed?

my 7 year old girl loves jedi training. She got to fight Darth Vader. I think my hubby was more excited than her! and... when he first went to strike she got scared and flinched. it was great! then she got fierce!!! The best show.

Again, thanks to all for your great tips and input!:worship:

My ds and dh are HUGE Star Wars fans. I did as suggested and made him a costume (not the brown robe). He was the only one there dressed as Obi Wan, though there were lots of kids with the brown robes.

A family sitting behind was complaining that they'd been to 4 shows so far that day (and 5 on the previous day) but their son still hadn't been picked for the show. I told them the tip I learned here about the costumes and T-shirts - she thanked me and left right away to buy him a costume at the shop.

On the other hand, my dd was in costume as Cinderella one day and Snow White the next. Although several CMs stopped her to compliment her and ask if she was the "real" Snow White during our 2nd day, when we stepped in line to meet Snow White, the CM there told me the line was closing and we'd have to try another day. She was the ONLY one in a friggin' Snow White costume in that line (frankly, she was the ONLY one I'd seen during our entire trip). She was very upset, but I do understand. Just a rough moment for my 5 year old!:sad1:

Has anyone had any experience with trying to get more than one kid picked? I have three boys who would all love to do this. If I get them all signs and maybe costumes or T-shirts, any chance they would pick more than one from the same family? Maybe I should spread them out among other adults....:rolleyes1 What do you think?

I had all three of my kids picked for the same show. We went to the second show of the morning, got there real early and were first at the tape line. Each kid had their own sign. My son had a homemade headband with Yoda ears and a thought bubble that said "Young Jedi am I". My oldest dd's sign said "Oh why oh why oh why, can't I be a Jedi?" and my youngest dd's said "Padewan Princess". They all three got picked pretty quickly, but this was off-season on November. I'd say with a sign, being up front and lots of enthusiasm, your chances are good.
