What exactly happens during Mission: Space?

All I can give for advice on this ride is what a cast member told me and it really worked for me (maybe not for all).

1) Don't close your eyes no matter how you feel.
2) Don't turn your head to the side (always look at the monitor in front of you).
3) Believe you are going into space and don't think about the mechanics of how the Disney Imagineers are doing it.

I get motion sick on really intense rides and this worked for me. But I will be honest, once is enough for me.

I actually enjoyed watching the people in the spinning teacups. They looked like they were having a lot of fun. BUT, I did not do the Mission Space ride. I cannot do Body Wars or Star Tours. I think we saved alot of time skipping these. Since they seem to be very popular. :earsgirl:

I've gotta say, the blast-off sequence with the level of g-forces make this the most incredible "ride" I have ever been on! Every time I go on it, during that sequence I end up saying "this is soooo cool!" But then again, I wanted to be a fighter jet pilot ;) I'd say give it a shot.

My DS (16yo) and I rode it for the first time this year (actually we rode it twice). He says it is the best ride at Disney. I'm not sure about that, but it is really great. I handled it with just a slight queasiness afterwards (I'm 51). I love how that simulate the movement to the gantry and take-off. Now, if they can just add in all the shaking that, I understand, goes on during an actual lift-off, it'd be great!

i think the hardest part will be not looking away from the screen. i just gotta look at dd and see how she's doing.

btw, how close are the barf bags? :rotfl:

We rode MS before it officially opened summer of 03. My DH and then 6yo DGD rode it with me and we did just at told - always look straight ahead and don't close your eyes. It lasts 4 minutes and I counted from the time it started 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, 3 Mississippi... so that I would know when it was about over (just in case). DGD and I were perfectly fine but DH was very pale. I was always a good spinner :flower1:

Our family all went on Mission Space; myself, DH, DS10, DS12 and DS16 who has Down Syndrome. We were separated and DH, DS10 and DS12 went into one "capsule" and DS16 and I went into another. I wasn't concerned because I never get sick on rides. OMG I thought I was going to die!!!!! I got so dizzy and felt like an elephant was on my chest. After the ride I had to go back to the hotel. DS12 went with me because he was so worried about me! :sad2:

I will NEVER go on this ride again....but the rest of the family can't wait, especially DS16!!!!! I'll gladly sit outside while they go!
